May I make use of your valuable pce to call the at tentton of our citizens to the business which they annually lose or throw into the hands of Salt Lake City through a lack of enterprise in advertising our city as a tourist point and health resort? mm since I tab was settled Salt Lake City has been her metropolis, and the seat of the Mormon enure: having been located in that ratv. thntinaniia nt SSBBSM and foreign travelers have believed that town possessed all the attractions to be found within the territory. It needs to lengthy description of Ugden and its points of interest to show that it has more to interest the tourist and health seeker than Salt Lake City. The lake with its many facilities for bathing and boating, Ugden canon with its rugged mountain scenery, fine hot spring baths, splendid city and surrounding bench drives, all combine to make it as beautiful a spot as a tourist can visit between Boston and girtv Now why are they not taken advantage of? Simply because they are not advertised with this end in view, viz: to secure these tourist excursions. The travelers are not informed of w hat they could see in one or two days sojourn in this city and the managers who make up the routes of the excursions are as ignorant as the tourists. If the citizens of Ogden would present in a proper way the attractions of the city, its hotels would be crowded and its boarding houses tilled to overflowing with California tourists. Salt Lake City is now reaping the thousands of dollars which these excur-- s spend. Not only as a tourist but as a health resort Ogden should be known throughout the east. Many doctors believe Utah superior in some respects to Colorado for pulmonary diseases, and certainly the west does not possess as tine mineral springs as are to ha f,u ml at Ogden. In two years a large I. ot and sanitarium would be a at this popular resort. . These excursions are comiiosed of men w wealth and influence in the east, directors of large companies interested in the handling of western securities are among them and certainly no better ' means can be found of presenting opportunities for investment than inducing them to stop off.
