Two years of planning and fund raising culminated in the dedication of a Veterans Memorial inscribed with 243 names of Minereville veterans, Irving and deceased, and the wars in which they served. The structure is located just in front of the flag pole in the city park. "It's appropriated that this should be done on the nation's birthday,'' said Eleanore Marshall, President of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 8 1 . Mrs. Marshall and Grace Bealer have spearheaded the project The entire community pulled together to supply donated labor and materials. Lee and Gary Banks donated labor for the brick Wayne Smith Cement from Cedar City provided the cement Claude Woodside and associates put in the forms. Joe Hillock and Scott Bealer assisted as needed. Anthony Dealer's Eagle Scout project consisted of work on the monument hi addition to labor, approximately $3,000. in cash had to be raised. A quilt, tied by Betty Marshall, raised $600. Former residents participated along with those still living in the area. The structure is not only an honor for the veterans, but for those who gave such sincere appreciation for a job well done.
