A Transportation units of the Employe Relations branch, Civilian Personnel section, are beginning an intensive drive to make each auto carry its capacity load of passen gers, in an eilort to alleviate tne problem of worker transportation. At the present time spot checks are being made at various points to find out the number oi cars that are "carrying the fullest load possible. Checkers list the license num ber of the car, its capacity, and the number of riders. This infor mation is then attached to the supplemental mileage application. Drivers who persist in not orivwithout adequate ex ine planation, will ' find tough going for renewal of B or "C" books, The Transportation unit seryes as the medium of contact between drivers wishing riders and workers desiring rides. This advice, if taken, says Floyd Hammer, supervisor of the Time unit, will protect many a worker from irritating delays and from payroll trouble. The green card is given so that the employe may report his sickness to the attendant and sign the card even though it is necessary to phone in a report of sickness the day or days absent. If one has been absent for three days or more, give a doctor's certificate to the attendant and sign the green card. Mr. Hammer points out paren thetically that unless annual leave is approved prior to the time of leave and put through the proper channels immediately, the leave may not be designated as such. Perhaps the biggest headache at the clock house and. the greatest handicap to speed and efficiency in carrying out the heavy clerical work there is the carelessness with which persons pull their cards. Every employe must clock in and he must clock out his own card in order to avoid AWOL. This was announced some time ago, ' but many employes continue to pull someone else's card in their haste, forgetting that besides the loss to themselves there is loss in time and money to other persons. In brief, Mr. Hammer advises all employes at Hill Field to pull their own card, clock in, and clock out. If the card is green, stop and give the necessary information to the attendant so that your record may be kept straight. . to start using paper cups exclusively.
