The leading industry around the Times News office this week is trying to find enough material to get a paper uot with the editor gone. Yep, the editor has done it again. Last Sunday he packed up his car and with his son Allen took off for the National Editor ial convention being held in Louis ville, Kentucky this year. Payson anr Spanish Fork Nephi's 'baseball crew split a pair of games during the past week as they won a thrilling game at Santaquin on Memorial Day and then lost to Payson at Payson last Sunday. The Memorial Day game at Santaquin was close and affair, with Burk Peterson of Santaquin and Joel Sper-r- y of Nephi locked in a tight pitchers duel. The Nephi team jumped off to an early 0 lead only to see the Santaquin crew come back and tie it up at 4 in the 7th inning. Joel Sperry then homered to give the Nephi team the lead again, but Santaquin once more came back to get a run in the last of the 9th inning to tie it up again at 5 and send the game into extra Innings. Neither team scored in the 10th inning, but Nephi rallied in the top of the 11th for three big runs, climaxed by a booming triple by Boyd Howarth, to sew up the 5 vichard-foug- ht 4-- 4-- 5-- Ye Ed, happily driving away! The editor and son are sure to enjoy the trip if nothing more than getting away from the old grind for a while. When we stick too close to home, we tend to have our viewpoint somewhat narrowed. Maybe REG will come iback with a whole new outlook on life and full of enthusiasm and pep. Anyway it couldn't happen to a nicer guy and we hope he does enjoy the trip. 8-- tory. In Sunday's game at Payson, the Nephi team left 13 men on base as they dropped a 14-- 5 game to the Paysonites, for their first loss of the season. The Nephi hitters couldn't come through with the men on base, as everything they seemed to do went wrong. Payson on the other hand banged out 14 hits and left only 7 men on base. This now leaves the locals with a record of 3 wins and 1 loss for the year, and they still have a hold on the league leadership. Nephi was scheduled to play at Spanish Fork Tuesday night The locals will draw a bye this Sunday. June 10th and then will play at Pleasant Grove next Tuesday night, June 12th. American Fork Editor, confused, wanders, play at Nephi on Sunsays, "home was never like this." will then day, June 17th in the next home game.
