Rose Garden Committee Mrs. Rex Tolley Home Two meetings of the Rose Gar den Committee were conducted recently, the first at the home of Mrs. Frank Brough and the sec- id at the home of Mrs. A. L. Garbett. Mrs. Garbett, chairman, conducted the meetings and business affairs. Mrs. Frank Brough, secretary. reported on the past year's activities. During the year a lawn mower, edger etc were purchased with committee funds. Also Rose replacements for club beds where roses had winter killed and died were purchased with committee funds. roses were planted Seventy-fiv- e on April 25 and 26, completing the number of roses to be planted in the rose garden, under supervision of the Rose Garden committee and with the help of students of the Junior high school who dug the holes, carried fertilizer, and dirt, the planting was accomplished. Representatives of the Federated Clubs pruned sections assigned to them. The Nephi Garden club is to be compli mented for the work accomplished m their section. Rose Garden committee takes this opportunity to thank every one who contributed of their time in cleaning, pruning and planting of the roses. A special thanks is extended to the boys of the Jun ior high school for helping, for without their help the project would not have been completed. A caretaker will be appointed at an early date. All club members are requested to cooperate with the caretaker in pruning dead ros es from bushes during the sum mer months. Let s give our atten tion to the scenic muncipal rose garden which this year is com pletely planted. Officers for this year are chair man: Mrs. Bent Bryan, whose term will expire in 1957; Mrs. Allen Belliston; Secretary Mrs. Sherl D. Ferre; treasurer, Miss Pearl Nielsen; publicity, Mrs. Fred L. Gadd. All officers elected for one year, except the chairman who' is elected for two years to have a holdover member on the board. Mrs. A. L. Garbett was made Advisory Life Chairman, to act in an advisory capacity. Mrs. Earl H. Steele, Reporter Reviews Activities Mrs. Rex Tolley was hostess to the Ladies Literary League at her home Thursday evening, May 6th. Business matters were discussed after which a lovely "Spring Time Three enjoyed. Melody" was beautiful spring time songs were sung by Mrs. Rusell Stuart, Mrs. Elmo Haynes and Miss Ireta Carter. Mrs. Joseph Garrett played a piano solo. At the close of the evening, delicious refreshments were served to the following: Miss Ireta Carter, Miss Rheta Sperry, Miss Pearl Nielen, Mrs. Hosrner L. Jones received word Friday that their son Richard has been accepted at the Iowa State college at Ames, Iowa to continue his studies in veterinary science.
