Rate of gain is Influenced and determined by the ration used, the breed and by management. The broiler ration should contain 20 to 22 per cent protein and should contain a minimum of fiber. It must contain a quality source of protein and be fortified with the essential vitamins for rapid growth, as well as the proper minerals. Broilers, for fast and efficient growth, require a special ration that contain the above elements of protein, vitamins and mineralsbal-In the proper proportions and ance. Brooder temperature should be cool alter the first week and one half square foot of floor space should be allowed per bird. On the average 100 broilers should gain from 3.5 to 4.5 pounds per day. Mortality should be kept as low as possible. Whenever it passes the 10 per cent mark the upper limits have been reached. Under good conditions mortality could not pass five per cent.
