To cross in the middle of the block, rushing out from between parked cars can be, and too often is, a short-cu- t to accident and death! Last year in Utah 28 people were killed and 218 injured from these causes alone. In 75rc of pedestrian accidents the victims were walking in such a way as to contribute to their own demise. Actually drivers, in relation to pedestrians, are more careful. Utah accident records for 1946 indicate that jaywalkers are more plentiful and careless than ever, and are pushing the pedestrian casualty rate to a new high. Someone must do some g and that someone is you. When you cross a street or highway be personally responsible for your own safety. Don't expect the other fellow to look out for you. Cross with the light if there is one with even greater caution if there isn't. It's up to you to walk safely and live longer. t !
