In view of the present situation, it has become necessary to ask local board to carefully reclassify all regitrants who have previously been granted deferments, in order to bring a larger number of registrants into Class I to be available to fill future calls for men in the Armed forces. All previously granted student deferments will terminate with" the end of the present fall quarter or term of college. Students, as such, will receive no further consideration for deferment except those in training for certain necessary occupations such as engineering, medicine and chemstry. All men who have heretofore been deferred beause of physical condition will be rechecked especially when onlv bordprlinp im pairments exist. Whereas, in the past tne registration has been giv-- e nthe benefit of a doubt, all such cases must now be resolved in favor of the Government. Major H. A. Rich, Acting State Director of Selective Service for Utah states that local Selective Service Moards and registrants generally realize that these steps are necessary at this time and that full cooperation will be given in reclassifying all registrants to produce a pool of sufficient Class I men to enable the State of Utah to continue to fill every quota as 'M canea tor by the armed forces. 1 a Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Ellertson and Mrs. Harry Newell were visit Bernard M.
