The Red Cross workers stand ready to assist war veterans to settle their government claims. Do you need this assistance? It helps to procure hospital treatment when veterans need it and are entitled' to il ; it sees that their families do not suffer while claims are pending; help them to procure ad justed compensation and assist them to solve their many personal prob lem.i. During three months of this year the American Red Cross served an average each month of over 35.600 men or their families There are 2,657 Red Cross organiza tions in the United States. During the past year members of the Red Cross, numbering 29.266, Joined the Life Saving corps. This course of in struclion consisted of intensive train ing In scientific methods of rescuing drowning people, and reviving water victims by means of the Prone Pressure method of resuscitation. The floral offerings were beautiful and profuse, which were a silent tesimony of the high esteem in which the deceased was held in this community. The grave in the Vine Bluff cemetery- - was dedicated by T. C. Winn. Miss Worthintgon was a senior in the Nephi high school, and was active in school affairs, being a member of the Ladies Glee club, and of the student body association. The deceased is survived by her father, George Worthington, and the following sisters and brothers: Mrs. Harold Park, Mrs. James H. Ockey, Glen Worthington, Neldon Worthington and Gean Worthington. Sept. 19 Fire the Mammoth Supply company's store here this afternoon about 2 o'clock spread unchecked until it hr.d destroyed the big store owned by the Mammoth Mine company, one boarding house, one room-n- g house, a garage, a dance hall, the gymnasium hall and eight residences. The fire burned itself out after carrying everything before it for a block. High winds increased J he progress tf the fire. All efforts to check the fire came to a halt when the water mains burst due. to an explosion of ammonia tanks in the meat market of the store. Local fire fighters were helpless and when the Eureka department, which responded to a call, arrived there was nothing to be done, as the bursted mains were the only source of water. Foote, , FUNERAL HELD Work was commenced Monday morning on the installation of Burn-haRadial Gates at the inlet of the Nephi City electric light canal In the canyon. The work is under the supervision of G. R. Judd, chairman of the committee. They will be built of cement and steel construction, and the one in the main channel will be 20 feet long, with an 8 foot gate in the inlet. The new gates will take care of all the gravel that comes down, and the gate in the main channel will take care of all the flood waters. Work will also be started in the near future on the concrete pressure box at the head of the pipeline.
