L. Roberts of the B. Y. U., who has the meet in charge. The meet has grown to such proportions. Director Roberts says In his announcemnt, that it has become necessary to use two days instead of one. This year the grade school contests will be held on Friday, April 23, the Junior high school contests on the morning of Saturday, and the high school and Junior college events on the afternoon of Saturday, April 24th. Fully six hundred athletes are expected to partrcipate in the carniet place winner will receive a silver medal, and every third place winner will receive a bronze medal. The best high school athlete will be presented with a gold watch, valued at $50.00. This all around champion is to be determined by the following events: 100 yd. dash; running broad Jump; shot put; running high jump; 440 yd. dash; 220 yd. hurdle; discus throw; javelin throw; pole vault; and one mile run. The Ladies Literary club should be commended for the efforts that are being put forth for the ridding of this community of the flies. It is only by the united efforts of all residents supplemented by the civic organizations in general, that progress in fly eradication is possible. The time of the year has an important bearing on the success of such a movement. Ordinarily, fly eradicative campaigns are instituted too late in the season to be effective. The best results are obtained if the work is begun in April. The United States Public Health Service wishes certain eradicative to recommend measures. As long as areas exist, it's almost useless to un dertake suppressive measures of other character except screening; therefore the control of areas is the first requisite. A simple and effectual fly poison may be provided by mixing two of formalin with a pint of sweetened water. Every household should be provided with one or more fly traps. Simple and efficient traps may be constructed at small cost and the State Board of Health will furnish plans on request. People who have cleaned their own premises should demand that their neighbors shall do likewise, and notify the Board of Health of any failures or refusals.
