The contest was very close, some of the babies winning by a very small margin. After paying all expenses of the recent county fair the association have a small balance left. Consider nig the work that was necessary to put over the first event the fair assoc iation are well pleased with the re sult. The officers, supervisors, and members of the various committees who labored so faithfully to bring a bout the desired result are entitled to the thanks of the citizens of this county. The people who contributed their products and handwork, are to be complimented for their splendid efforts. The showing made at the first fair was excellent, and another year a still better fair can be held as much experience was gained by those having it in charge. Basket Ruth ON OCTOBER NINTH A Republican primary is hereby called to meet at the County Court house, Nephi, Utah, Friday evening October 9th, 1925, at 8 p. m. for the purpose of electing 15 delegates to attend a Republican City Conven tion which will be held at the County Courthouse, October 16th, 1925, at 8 p. m. This convention will nom Inate the following officers to be placed on the ofiiiial ballot and vot ed for at the Nephi City election to be held November 3rdl9 25: .Mayor, The teachers of Utah are to hold heir big, annual convention in Salt Lake City, on the 22nd, 23rd. and 4th of this month. It is exDected that practically 100 per cent of the teachers of the stata will be in atten- ance. Reports according to J T. Worlton, president of the association, indicate that one of the best conventions in the historyof the association is fast taking form and that a eal treat Is in store for the educat- rs of Utah. Mr. Worlton says that leading edu cators from both east and west will ddress the meetings. Among these are the following: Mr. Aaron Sapiro, of Chicago; Miss Frances Jenkins of he Cincinnati University; Dr. L. Thomas Hopkins, of the University of Colorado; A. H. Reeve, president of the National Congress of Parents and Teachers; and Mrs. Sadie Orr Dunbar of Portland, Oregon. Every school district of Utah, ac cording to President Worlton, should expect the teachers charged with the responsibility of training its boys and girls to attend these meetings and partake of the things that mean bo much for the growth and advancement of our communities. No teach er can afford to stay away from these educational feasts and no district can afford to retain teachers dispos ed to so absent themselves. Accord ing to President Worlton, Utah has but very few of this type.
