Williams Sr. has returned to his home in Centerfield after a visit here with relatives and friends SIGN nms CONTRACT FOR NEXT YEAR While there are still some vacan cies both in the grades and the high school of this district the work sign ing up teachers for next year is pro gressing very satisfactorily. A maj ority of teachers who have been em ployed in the district during the present year have signed their contracts to return next year. Up to date the following teachers have signed. COMMENCE the government had appropriated $150 towards repairing this stretch of road, and it was this report that caused the club to agree to match this sum, with a like amount in labor, Ranger Christensen, assisted by the est ranger Christensen, reported that MENT THURSDAY NEXT MONDAY Road From Forks of Canyon To Ranger Station Will Be Repaired Forest Service Will Also Provide Funds to Aid in Work. Every member of the Kiwanls Club is expected to be at the Forrest Hotel Monday morning at 7.30 am prepared to give a day's work in the canyon. This is the substance of a motion which carried unanimously at the noon luncheon of the club Monday. Any member who cannot be there in person, will be expected to provide a substitute to take his place. If there is any citizen who is not a member and who wishes to help in this worthy movement his help will be cheerfully accepted. The plan outlined is to repair the road leading from the forks of the canyon to the ranger station, or bet ter known as the Nebo Park. This canyon retreat ,1s the real recreation place of the people or tnis city, ana the idea is to fix up the road so that the drive there will be a real pleasure Arrangements are being made for the club members and their wives and sweethearts to eat luncheon at the ranger station Monday evening in real camp style, after the work of the day is completed. THE AGRICUITCRAJi AND MINING INTEREST 'F : : : JUAB COUNTY t 1TH, 1923 CLUB CANYON CROWD The Stake Quarterly Conference held in this city Saturday and Sunday was well attended throughout. Out of town speakers were Apostle Richard R. Lyman and President Joseph Reece, of the Nebo Stake. .All the meetings were pretided over by President T. D. Roes. The first session was held at 2 p. m. Sat urday at which Elder Lyman was the principal speaker. In the evening a general priesthood meeting was held which was largely attended. Sunday morning the conference was continued. The opening and closing prayers were offered by Orson Cazier and Mark Bigler respectively. The speakers were J. E. Lunt, Wil- ford Cole, Evan Howell, Samuel G. Paxman, President Jos. Reece and Elder Lyman. The closing session was held at 2 p. m. Music was furnished for this occasion by the High School Chorus, under the direction of K. J. Bird, "Crossing the Bar" "Sing Unto The Lord a New Song" and "Lead Kindly Light" the solo part in the latter ant hem being sang by Miss Hannah Scho felld were the selections rendered by the Chorus. The speakers were T. H. Burton, Wm. Bailey, Joseph Reece and Elder Lyman, each of whom reported the various activities in which they were engaged in the church A feature of the afternoon session was the presentation of the diplomas to the young men and women who have completed the seminary course, the names of the successful students being published in this paper a short time ago. The presentation was made by Ezra Poulson, principal of the seminary. After a few remarks by President T. D. Rees, and the sustaining of the general and local authorities, the meeting came to a close. The open ing and closing prayers were offered by P. P. Christison and J. W. Boud. In the evening under the auspices of the Young Ladies Mutual organiz ation and the Ladies Literary Club, a very excellent Mother's Day program was rendered, the Tabernacle being filled to capacity. Mrs. Leon Newton has come to Mona after visiting with her parents TEACHERS Mt. W. Lloyd Adams, editor and publisher of the Rexburg Idaho, Stan. dard, and a former resident of this city was present and told of his pleasure at meeting many of his old friends again, and also expressed ple asure finding such a good community spirit here which he said meant much for the future welfare of the city. Mr. Adams, urged those present to stand by their town and boost for its re sources. L. P. Anderson rendered two vocal selections in fine style, accompanied by the club's pianist Miss Viola Spencer Forrest presided at the luncheon. -- Wor-thingto- n. At the Venice Theatre next Thurs day evening, May 25th, the commencement exercises of the Nephi High school will be held. Thirty young men and women who have completed the four year course successfully will receive a diploma. Karl Hopkins, Supt of the Ogden City Schools will deliver the address to graduates. Albert Starr of this city and Hilda Christ ensen of Levan will be the class valedictorians and will both have a prominent part on the program. The commencement exercises are looked upon as one of the big events of the year. Some very splendid pro grams have been given in the past. Glen Worthington, a member of the Freshman Class carried off the indiv-idu- a honors and placed his class at the head of the list in the total of points earned. LEVAN MILL GANGES HANDS Nevada Company Purchase Plant Services Held For Mrs. Larsen Tuesday. Funeral services were held in the Levan Ward Chapel Tuesday afternoon for Mrs. Klrsten Larsen, who died at Fillmore Saturday evening, after a prolonged illness of several years. Mrs. Larsen was born in Denmark Nov 28, 1838, being nearly eighty tour years or age at the time of her death. She became a member of the L. D. S. Church narly fifty years ago and in 1896 she and her husband came to America making Levan their nrst place of residence. Shortly after coming to America Mr. Larsen died in isu7 she moved to Fillmore, where she has since resided with a daughter. She is survived by three sons and two daughters, Magnus C. Larsen, unsuan Anderson, James C. Larsen of Levan, Mrs. Jean Copeley of Van couver, B. C. and Mrs. Zina Anderson of Fillmore, and twenty grand chtld- ren. Services were conducted bv Rlahon James E. Taylor, who in connection witn Olson of Scipio. J. C. Neil- son, Charles Mangelson Sr. eulogized the life of the deceased. The ward choir rendereu appropriate hymns. The Levan Plaster Mill which was recently purchased from J. H. Moyle or bait Lake City by a Nevada company is expected to be put into operat ion again after having been closed down for a number of years. At first plans were made to remove the same and a wrecking crew had already commenced operations which were suspended Sunday upon official advice from the purchasing company Every effort is being made to retain this important industry by the citizens of the town, who are ready to give the company certain necessary concessions. Th town board met with the repre sentatives of the concern and every thing seems quite favorable for the retention.
