MiSH The success of any organization depends upon the loyalty and char acter of its members. This is equally true to the high school. It is true also, that the student who is not loyal to his school is not only an undersirable member to that institution, but will also be a disloyal and undesirable member to society after he leaves school. Sociology teaches that loyalty is one of the factors in social evolut ion which makes for survival of the race. It certainly is an important factor in any society; the traitor is displsed above all enemies. But who is the loyal student? Has be done his full duty when he has attended a few basket ball games and supported the school team with all the power of their lungs? While such action is creditable it is not enough. He can bring honor or disgrace upon his school by his conduct and by what he makes of himself because the school is judged by the product it turns out. To be loyal to their school, therefore, students must conduct themselves as ladies and gentlemen. They should not require watching by teach ers, but should be self governing as all true loyal citizens are; only the weak and ignorant need watching. They should not destroy nor mar school property, but help to preserve It and to keep the building clean and in order. In play they should show true sportsmanship; in work they should become the true student and give their lessons the best that is in them; in thir intercourse with teachers and fellow students in classroom or on the streets they should cultivate that mark of good breedpoliteness ing which is so essential to success. Such students when they leave school will have formed habits of true citizenship, and will be an honor to their school and a valuable citi zen when he leaves school. know-Freshe- . ir j HIGHEST AVEKAGK FOK FIKST SEMESTEK NEPHI LOST HARD E Scores Tied In Second Half Of Game. The students should change from their old way in this respect and make this teacher change his mind. Surely what one teacher think along this line other teachers think also. A school is a place to begin the arts of life and also the place to learn how to conduct one's self and this necessarily means courtesy and respect. Courtesy goes a long way in Impressing people of a person's This helps a great deal when a person is tryworth and training. ing to get a position. A person should be courteous on the streets.. and persons should not stand on the corners thus blocking the way of people passing up and down the streets. It is common for students after school hours and during the noon hour to get on a street corner and so block It that ladies and other people have to turn out to pass, which during muddy weather is very unpleasant. Students should watch this and make passage way for any persons Little things like this do not take much effort and wishing to pass. they are a great help to all. Students will sometimes come into a study hall making very much noise, this disturbing those students who are studying. Disturbances of this kind are sometimes done unintentionally. However students should watch themselves. In the assemblies Is the place where students should at all times show respect to those taking part and also those in charge. If an out of town speaker is speaking in the assemblies and the order is perfect he leaves with a good impression of the school on his mind and he will tell his associates of the conduct of the school. Students surely it is to the advantage of the school and to ourselves to respect our teachers our fellow classmates and our visitors. 1st year, Deon Belllston 88. Ice 86.
