HYDEi WH1TM0RE CO. ASSIGNS The news of the assignment for the benefit of creditors of the Hyde & Whitmore Co. came as quite a surprise to the whole community here. For several months Senator J. A. Hyde's health has been failing him, and as he is practically the owner of the store, (Geo. C. Whitmore having sold out several years ago) with his many other interests, he could not stand the strain of all the work, and as his sans and J. W. Olpin, the other directors, were not in a position to buy him out the board decided .to assign now that the company's creditors might be paid in full. The liabilities are $20,000, and the resources are $33,000, so all the creditors will be paid leaving a surplus. The principal creditors are the First National Bant for $9,000, with about $8,000, collateral security; Z. C M. Scowcroft and Sons-$lGwith a large number of smallei creditors to make up the balance. Bishop T. H. G. Parkes has been appointed assignee, and will open the store Tuesday, carrying on the mercantile business until it is closed up. 00, 00 Notice. "It is wonderful" says Supt. Cardon. "When one realizes that these crops are maturing on soil which In the last year and a half has received, totally, no more than 13 inches of rain, he begins to see the agricultural future of this state. There are millions of acres still to be made to yield, and, through experimental work, we are going to find a way to make such a feat more easily possible".
