Keep a Scrap Book, One seldom realizes what is Stop It does not pay to advertise say some merchants who have done but little of it and that without keeping it up. The incident of the boy and the pump illustrates the matter very well. The boy was sent after a pail of water. He poured in the priming and pumped out as much as he poured in. Then he stopped to rest ai d the priming ran down. After some time of alternate pumping and resting he concluded it did not pay to pump and quit in disgust The merchant who does not believe in advertising does like the boy who did the pumping. He advertised a few weeks, then stopped awhile and allowed the people to forget him and his business before he advertised again and then concluded advertising didn't pay. Ex. Juvenile Band. Many people in our city are unaware of the fact, that the neucleus of a splendid musical organization is being formed. I refer now to the Juvenile Band, which was organized some 3 or 4 months ago. and which ha3 now a membership of 27. The boys have made good progress, and should receive the loyal sup port of every citizen of this com munity, for there is nothing in my estimation that gives vim and tone to a town, better than a good Band. Take for instance our summer holidays, without some music they fall flat. What is better on the morning of the 4th of July or 24th than to hear the strains of a band playing some national air, which makes the blood tingle, and the soul throb with oatriotism. Nephi has in this backward respect. been till at the present time the num ber capable of good band work, ran almost be counted on the fingers of both hands. Now the time has come to wake tin. Let's utilize some of the talent we have at home. An effort is being made to increase the membership to 40. Parents will make no mistake when their hnv ioin the band. Music has always been an influence for good An entertainment is to be given on the 27th of this month, by the band. Let every citizen who can attend, do so, and show the boys, that we are with them, in their efforts to advance the mu side interests of our cify. Thank ing you for this space I am Yours respectfully, ost by not caring in an' orderly way for the many items of in formation or recipes that are valuable which may be clipped from the papers and magazipes and kept where they can be found when wanted, by the use of a ttle time, paste and an old book. When one has to rummage through a pile of old literature to ind what ip wanted immediately, or to claw through a lot of clip pings that are tossed haphazard ' nto envelopes or boxes, one is apt to lose not only valuable time, but temper as well. Any old, d book may be used for the scrap book, by tearing, or cutting out two leaves, le aving one, then tearing out two more, until the book has been gone through. It requires but a few minutes to make a few spoonfuls of flour paste, and to put the scraps into the book used for the purpose. There might be several books, one each lor certain items of information, for recipes, and for literature. Scrap books make a valuable library, and are worth mora than any encyclopedia if the contents are wisely chosen and the work done neatly. Not have only should the house-wil- e a valua but many books, scrap ble item may be saved by the man of the family, and when pasted in his book, he can find it at a moment's nptice. Just resolve to cultivate the scrap-boo- k habit, beginning now. Ex. well-boun- Dennis Wood. i "Kanaroau t- u kc-- i t .. ,. i , ' luuiv Good Number. Clearance and Remodeling Sale. Utah.
