Burton of the Nephi Commercial Club has communi- novp( cation regarding the excursion of the Salt Lake Commercial Club which will visit here on May 18th. It reads as follows : April 23, 1910. "Mr. Thomas H. Burton, Sec. Nephi Commercial Club, , Nephi, Utah. Dear Sir: Replying to your letter of the 21st instant, I beg to say that under the schedule our excursion train will reach Nephi at 12:00 o'clock noon on Wednesday, May 18th, and will remain there until 1:30 p. m. We would like to see as much of your town as we can in that time, and would also enjoy a luncheon or a reception or any other meeting that would enable our speakers to address your people and p remit of responses from some of your citizens. The form of entertainment will be in your hands, and left entirely VvA . t n i 1 .Till v m We KnOW Wlit yuui cuu well looked after. We will carry with us a brass band and a quartet so that you need not provide any music. We think there will be about one hundred in our party, but cannot tell definitely until within a few days before the-follow- ing : ' Says J. Edward Taylor. J. E. Taylor, secretary of the State Board of Horticulture was in town the first of the week, and in company with deputy inspector A. V. Gadd, visited several.of the young orchards that have been planted out reh cently. At the orchard of Carter, many of the trees have been dying without any apparent cause. But Mr. Taylor stated that it was due to their being winter killed. The soil had had too much water during the winter months. Mr. Carter informed him that he had not irrigated at all either during the winter or fall. However the land is quite level with very little drainage, and the surface water of the land had been the cause of their undoing. Mr. Taylor stated to the Times reporter that people are becoming enthusiastic for setting out Hez-ekia- orchards, but their enthusiasm wanes during the care of them, and that a person should not go into the orchard business, unless he intends to make it a study, and also intends to give the trees the most careful attention. Half of those who are planting orchards, will make failures because they do not thoroughly understand the orchard business. Several Suits Filed.
