Show TICKET COYOTf AND RABBIT. Bunny Seemed to Enjoy Him. ECONOMY BUYERS. Tantalizing There may be meaner and sneakier animals than the coyote, but It is doubtful. The royote Is an arrant coward when he meets a foe of any size or gameness, but give Win a rabbit and he Is brave as a lion. In Ross Park there is a specimen of this detested animal. He is kept in a cage, and about Ms wire confines is a rabbit Inclosure. A rabbit Isn't credited In zoology with enough brains to wad an old fashioned rifle, yet the Ross Park hares are having all kinds of fun with the badly groomed and forbidding native of the Western prairie. The coyote Is cute "and shy, but the beetle brain rabbits soon discovered that he could not get beyond the wire confiiies of his cage, and then they also discovered a way to keep him busy. Superintendent F. S. Smith and visitors to the park have had all sorts of Hon In the past watching the pranks of those animal comedians, the monkeys, but their antics were never funnier than the tricks the rabbits play on the rait coyrte. W hen he toj ote v arts at eno end of the cage, ready to spring an what he evidently considers easy mutton, or rather rabbit, the hares will sneak up and poke their trembling noses against the wire cage. Quicker than a flash Br'er Coyote whirls around and leaps for those noses, but presto! the robbits have gone to the ' opposite end of the cage. This performance is sometimes repeated for hours at a time, and when ne detail of rabbits get tired of the fun, fresh ones hike up to the cage and make the coyote give a continuous performance. . If the coyote had a spark of animal Intelligence he would quit a losing and tiresome game, but he smells the blood of a rabbit, and his vigilance never ceases. The performance of these animals Is well worth a visit to the park, even If there were no counter attractions. Upon the roof of the large luncheon pavilion Jack, one of the pet monkeys, Is having the time of his life. Since Thursday Jack has been roaming around the park taking In the Having broken the string eights. around his neck, he has found liberty so enjoyable that he Is in no hury to return to his own fireside. Through continuous attempts have been made to capture him. Jack is nimble, wise and In no wise desirous of falling Into the bands of the park officials. Jack has been making big hits with . the park visitors, and he is followed by the crowds. Just as soon as Jack becomes less wary he will be caught by CapL Smith, but when nc one knows. The captain Is not worried and says that the mon key Is safe where he is . He adds that when he wants to come back he will find a welcome. Binghamton, (N. Y.,) Press. The Johnnlerand the Smiths. The relative positions of railroad. ticket broker and the man who Is wont to ride on a "scalper's" ticket, was thourougbly gone over In the First District police court yesterday afternoon, when Seth Testard, a tick et broker doing business at No. 112 Mi North Broadway, was fined 150 and costs for disturbing the peace of Charles E. Payne. The fine was paid promptly and the books were closed on the ease so far as the proposition was concerned, but there was evidence adducted in the proceedings which may be used by the railroad com panies In attempt to force injunctions against the ticket brokers in cases now pending, or which may arise, lu the higher courts. Specifically, Mr. Testard, a ticket broker, was charged with having dis turbed the peace of one Charles E. unPayne. The action was brought der the city ordinance, but In the taking of testimony and argument the case took a wide range before being submitted to the jury. Tom Cannon represented the city and prosecuted the case, and Abram M. Frumberg appeared for the defense. n According to testimony, Payne, World's Fair visitor, on- August 3, last, purchased a "scalper's" ticket from St. Louis to Cleveland, O., over the Big Four from Testard for $S.00. The ticket had been duly validate! and signed by the original purchaser. When "ayne presented the ticket to get through the gates at Union Station It was taken up by an agent of the railway company. Payne returned to the office of the broker and requested that his Testard demoney bo refunded. manded a receipt or some evidence that the ticket had been taken up but to Payne either was unable pr failed furnish Jie neceBsary proof. After a controversy Payne was given another ticket, and this, too, was taken up at the eate when it was presented. Tes tard still contended that he must fnractual had nlsh proof that the ticket It been taken up before he could, as a business proposition, refund the mo Bath When selecting a piano should be sure of quality.
