Show MILLARD COUNTY CHRONICLE- OASIS LA VEDA BISHOP Last weekend Rex and Hazel Babbitt and three children of Og-den Og-den visited their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Skeem. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Harris were in Salt Lake Thursday and Friday on business. Mrs. Clark Bishop visited her sister, sis-ter, Myrtle Troester in Midvale Thursday and Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Petrovich of Los Angeles stopped to visit us a couple of hours Friday afternoon. They were on their way to go fishing fish-ing to Flaming Gorge. I suppose we'll be having some real good fish stories especially about those that got away now that the season is open. Now Ed Skeem told me about his fishing trip. He and Fontella took off for Tooele Saturday morning at 4:00 a.m. He went with his son Reed to fish. Now that's funny I didn't ask him where they fished, but it wasn't entirely fruitless, they each caught one. Better luck next time, Ed. Anyway he had a nice visit with his boy, Reed, who is leaving Monday for Germany where he'll be for the next two months. His wife, Julie and two children will remain in Tooele while he is gone. Fontella had a nice visit with her daughter, Kath-lene Kath-lene Farris and family, also Julie and children. Ladd and Ann Kelly and two daughters of Riverton, Ut came Thursday to visit their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Kelly. Ann's parents Mr. and Mrs. Page came a bit later and took Ann with them to Reno, Nev. to see their other daughter, Elizabeth Dewsnup receive her Master's Degree. The Kelly family and Speed and Ardella Riding left Saturday for Minersville Reservoir to fish. They were met there by Dawn and Joe Anderson of Las Vegas and Jim's son, Steve Kelly of Las Vegas. Inez, Dawn and Steve returned to Oasis Sunday evening with a nice catch of fish. The others stayed to do some more fishing. Allen and Margaret Sumison and family of Spanish Fork spent Sunday with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Stanworth. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Stanworth returned re-turned home a week ago Monday from Corinne, where they had been a week helping to take care of their daughter, Marilyn Stewart, who had been in the hospital for an operation. We are glad to hear that she is getting along fine. Dave Nichols was a patient in the West Millard Hospital from Thursday till Sunday. We are happy hap-py that he is on the improve again. Mr. and Mrs. Voy Stewart and son, Todd of Midvale spent Saturday Satur-day and Sunday with their parents Dave and Rose Nichols. Celia Chrisitensen's niece, Margaret Mar-garet Nielson and her husband of South Gate, Calif, are visiting with Celia and Ed, and also with relatives rela-tives in Fillmore. Jack and Debra Anderson of Moses Lake, Wash., arrived in Oasis Friday where they are visiting visit-ing their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Deon Gillen and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Clar-ence Anderson. Debra graduated from the Moses Lake High School this past week and we congratulate congratu-late her on this achievement. Then there were four post graduates from our town too that I missed, Sharon Rowley, Vincent Memmott, Michael Styler, and Rex Stanworth. Congratulations. Con-gratulations. Gary Stanworth, who has been attending the Dixie College this year has received a call to go to Japan on a mission. We all wish him well. He will leave in August and will attend language school in Hawaii. Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Anderson and little son of Dugway visited their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Anderson An-derson over the weekend. Their sister, Nancy, returned home fith them Sunday evening and her sister sis-ter Colleen will pick her up and take her to Calif, where she will stay for awhile. OAK CITY MACEL ANDERSON The main event of the pist week was the dedication of the new chapel. It was bsautifully decorated with lovely bouquets of iris and peonies and two lovely bouquets of gladiolas and peonies. The choir sang for the occasion with such lovely numbers. So many people attended from out of town. Many whe were former members of the ward who have kept in touch and been interested in the building. Special visitors were Mr. Robison who dedicated the building, the Stake Presidency and their families and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Leidthe who was in charge of the erection of the building. Grant Harris and family of Spanish Span-ish Fork visited his father, Earl Hr.rris and sister, Dianne while they were here for a few days. Mrs. Louisa Lovell is home again after spending the winter in Sutherland. Suther-land. Macel Anderson and Paul visited relatives and friends Tuesday, Wednesday andd Thursday of last week in Salt Lake and Ogden and attended business. Larry Stephenson Stephen-son of Salt Lake returned home with them to spend the summer with his grandmother. Mr. and Mrs. Max Cox, Cherene and Tracy made a trip into Salt Lake and Provo for a checkup with the foot specialist Friday. The town was almost deserted Saturday with so many people off fishing. Miss Levern Anderson of Ogden and Miss LaRue Wilkerson of Granger visited Mr. and Mrs. Don Anderson over the weekend.- Don and Ruth attended a wedding reception re-ception in the noithern part of the state fos a granddaughter, Geniel Lovell Friday afternoon. Congratulations to Kent Finlin-son Finlin-son and John Wright for having graduated from BYU. After school let out Dave Houston Hous-ton returned to his home in Orem where he will help his father. Dave spent the winter with Mr. and Mrs. Dean Anderson and attended school at Delta High. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Peterson and Howard and Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Peterson and children of Salt Lake visited Mrs. Aretta Peterson Sat. Mr. and Mrs Jess Peterson and children of Salt Lake visited over the weekend with parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vern Nielson and family. Miiss Velma Harvey of Salt Lake visited a few days with her sister and family, Bp. and Mrs. Dean i Anderson coming especially to the dedication of the new chapel. Miss Harvey has been very interested in the building and helped immensely on the publishing of the book "Echos of the Sage and Cedars". Her work has been greatly appreciated appre-ciated by the people of the ward. An error was made last week in listing the high school graduates, itw as Robert Finlinson who graduated gradu-ated instead of Michael Anderson. Congratulations Robert and I'm sorry for the mistake. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Finlinson and children visited their parents, Second Ward News EDDYS BARBEN Thursday, June 4th, Bradley and Marilyn Stoddard drove Deb to the Salt Lake airport whore she and Kris Hansen boarded a plane for Arlington, Va. Later that night Marilyn called Deb and found out that their plane had to circle the Dulles Airfield for 30 minutes as the hi-jacked plane had arrived just before them and things were in a state of emergency. Deb and Kris have jobs as secretaries for the government in Washington, D. C. for the summer. They plan to return to the BYU for school next fall. Mr. and Mrs. S. O. Stoddard, Gregory and Stephen E. drove to Logan last Friday to attend the graduation of their daughter and sister, Kathy Stoddard. At Commencement Com-mencement exercises they also saw Mr. Stoddard's sister-in-law, Lucille Stoddard receive her Doctors degree de-gree in Business Education. She is the wife of Dr. Ted Stoddard a former Deltan. Mr. and Mrs. June Black spent the week in Provo attending the educational week at BYU. Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Miller spent Sunday in Provo visiting. Mrs. Violet Snow spent the Memorial weekend in Logan and Salt Lake. She also attended the University of Utah Graduation exercises exer-cises on the 5 and 6 of June in Salt Lake where her grandson, Robert J. Snow graduated from the college of Engineering and also graduated from the United States Air Force R.O.T.C. Mrs. Lemira Bishop just returned from a ten day trip where she attended at-tended graduation exercises for six of her grandchildren, Clark Bishop, Springville, Dennis May of Overton, Nev.; Susan Brown of Salt Lake, I graduated from high school. Wayne ' and Roma Bishop from Utah State University, Logan and Conroy Whipple from Weber College in i Ogden. j Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Stephenson spent some time with their mother, I Mrs. Lemira Bishop. They were on! their way to Logan I Wayne Bishop of Tempe, Ariz, j spent the weekend with his grand-' mother, Lemira Bishop. He was on j his way home from Logan where he received his Masters degree in electrical engineering from USU. 1 Mr. and Mrs. June Black traveled to Salt Lake Tuesday to be with June's sister after the death of her husband, Frank G. Lewis. They returned re-turned home Friday after the funeral. fun-eral. Saturday and Sunday visitors at the June Black home were June's brother, Mr. and Mrs. Don C. Black and daughter, Emily of Mesa, Ariz, and June's sister Mrs. Geneva Stout also of Mesa, Ariz. They at- Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Finlinson. They left Tuesday to visit and attend at-tend business in Denver, Colo. Gerald Ger-ald received his masters degree in New Orleans this past week and has employment at Santa Fe, New Mex. where they will make their home. Congratulations Gerald and best wishes for your long pourney. Mr. and Mrs. Elvon Anderson and family of Shreveport, La. are visiting their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Nielson and George H. Anderson. Their son, Dana just re-, turned from a 26 month mission in Brazil, Mr. and Mrs. Lamar Anderson and little son of Provo visited Friday Fri-day and Saturday with their parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Anderson. Sylvia and Dennis Broderick and baby and Kathy and Douglas Smith and baby of Provo enjoyed a weekend visit with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lyman Finlinson. Dr. and Mrs. Lyman Moody and baby of Salt Lake, Dr and Mrs. ' Milo Moody, Dr. and Mrs. Rymol 1 Williams and Roland of Cedar and Cynthia Williams Dunaway and husband and family visited with the Lyman and Grant Finlinson families over the weekend and attended at-tended the dedication. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Nielson and family of Fillmore visited their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence East and Mr. Peter Nielson Sunday. Val Nielson is home for a few days with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Nielson. Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Jacobson and Arvilla Buchanan and son were home from Thursday til Monday and returned to their home in Salt Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Kyle Jacobson have moved home for the summer and live in the trailer house they used last summer. Mr. and Mrs. Harold (Bud) Heg-essy Heg-essy and daughters of Salt Lake visited George H. Anderson over the weekend. Harold lived here and attended school at Delta High School when he was a boy. It's always nice to have him return and visit. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Pratt were in St. George Saturdiy to attend the wedding of their niece. Ann Tobler. Dale, LaRita and Clyde came home with them from school. tended church In the 2nd Ward Sunday. John and Judy B. Borgstrom and Barbara Bassett are visiting this week in Redlands, Calif, with Mr. Bergstrom's parents. ROBERT ASHBY Mrs. Shcrida Kennedy of Las Vegas is visiting her mother, Mrs. Louise Allen. She came up for the Wedding of Karen Teeples and Joe Gleason. Max is coming up Friday to take her home. Randall Allen has been home visiting. He has gone to Escalante to work. Louise and Paul are moving to Richfield where Louise is going to enroll in the beauty school. The wedding of Karen and Joe Gleason was a very lovely affair. Many out of town friends attended. Mr. and Mrs. Mel Church of St. Anthony, Idaho visited with family two days last week. Mr. and Mrs. Bent Mork made a trip to Salt Lake to visit with Bent's folks, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Mork who left for a trip to Denmark Den-mark Sunday. VENICE DAVIS Mrs. Ruth Losee and daughter, Annette made a trip to San Diego, Calif, for a visit with her daughter, Donna Rowlette for a few weeks. Ireta Shurtz and children met Elden Saturday and went fishing and returned Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Shurtz and family made a trip to Salt Lake over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Davis, Marie Barben and Lois Greene made a trip to Salt Lake Friday for the graduation of their son, Donald from the Trade Tech College. It was held in the Highland High School and very impressive with caps and gowns.. Dale Abbott and Gary Callister also graduated and received degrees.
