Show MILLARD COUNTY CHRONIC1E- -THURSDAY, APRIL 9, 1970 Oak City News MACEL ANDERSON Mr. and Mrs. Jess Peterson and children of Salt Lake visited Virginia's Vir-ginia's folks, Mr. and Mrs. Vern Nielson Saturday and Sunday. They returned home Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Peterson and children were also Oak City visitors over the weekend. The Peterson boys were trying to get their land in shape. They report that their grandmother is doing very nicely and hopes to come home soon. Mrs. Sarah Finlinson and Macel Anderson attended Primary Conference Con-ference Thursday and Friday. It was a very enjoyable conference as well as informative. Bishop Anderson and son, Gordon Gor-don attended conference Sunday and Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Don Anderson were home from Manti for a few days while the conference was on ad the temple was closed. Their son, Don L., Jr. of Loa and family visited Saturday afternoon with their folks. They took Lorraine's mother, Ida Finlinson back to Loa for a visit. Francis Anderson and sons, Kay, David and Peter of Ely, Nev. came in on Saturday to help his mother with the spring work. Miss Sharon Stuart, Chloe All-dredge All-dredge and EIRue visited over the weekend in Oak City from Salt Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Orin Finlinson and son, Morris of Payson visited Sunday Sun-day with relatives esipecially their mother, Ida Finlinson. Cynthia 'and Dennis Cook have moved into the little house of Howard Dutsons where they will make their home during the summer. sum-mer. Dennis will be working on land leveling with Grayson Roper. We are glad to have another family fam-ily move in and we welcome them here. After a two week's visit in West Jordon with members of their family, fam-ily, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Finlinson returned re-turned to their home the past week end. The Seminary Students of Delta gave the program Sunday evening at Sacrament meeting. They had a lovely program with stories from the Old Testament and a song, "Hold Thou My Hand" by Miss Jeffery. It is good to see the young people take part and share what they are learning. They were accompanied ac-companied by their teacher Mr. Passey. Fred Erickson was in charge of the program. Mr. and Mrs. Bent Mork visited j Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Lovell Sunday, and attended Sacrament meeting. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Roper are on vacation in Oakland, Calif, where they are visiting Mr. and, Mrs. Rich Lyman and sightseeing in that area. Larry and Ann Taylor drove to Heber Saturday where Larry pick-' ed up a new horse. I Dennis and Roxie Trimble and children of Fillmore visited Saturday Satur-day with their grandparents, Mr. ' and Mrs. LeRoy Walker. Mrs. Lorna Lovell celebrated her birthday Saturday with a visit from her sister, Cleo and husband, Sterling Ster-ling Holt and daughter, Ranae of Richfield. Sunday other members of her family visited, Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer Anderton of Richfield and Mr. and Mrs. Roland Dutson and children of Delta. They had an enjoyable en-joyable time together. Cordell and Gloria Finlinson of Sunset visited their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Finlinson. The Daughers of the Pioneers met Friday at the home of Nellie Roper. Mrs. Thelma Dutson gave a history of her great-grandfather Wixom. They had a good turn out of the members. ih;si:hi:t ARPRILLA SCOW Mr. Ray Moody of Salt Lake was here for several days looking after his farming interests here. Mr. and Mrs. Claude Clayton of Las Vegas, Nev. visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Palmer. Mrs. Thlrza Webb spent Thursday Thurs-day at Mllford with her daughter, Mrs. Floral Taylor and son, Tim. Mrs. Lucile Hales was hostess to the Deseret Rook Club at her home on Thursday evening. Luncheon was served. Members present were Lucile Sampson, Delores Ogden, Jackie Black, Elaine Moody, Bessie Webb, Carole Warnlck, MarGenne Rowley and Arprilla Scow. Mr. and Mrs. Max Ellason and family of Aneheim, Calif, visited Thursday at the homes of Phil and Lincoln Eliason. Max and family were on their way to Salt Lake to attend conference. Mr. nd Mrs. Robert Torrens, Jr. and children of Orem spent the weekend with parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Torrens, Sr. Max and Anne Jensen and son of Salt Lake were down over the weekend to visit with their parents Mr. and Mrs. Axel Jensen. Visiting with parents, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Moody Saturday and Sunday was their son, Larry Moody and family of Salt Lake. Harold Western and family of Phoenix, Ariz, visited with parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Western. Harold had been in Salt Lake for Conference. Con-ference. I Mr. and Mrs. Glen Halloway of Orem visited Saturday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Webb. Oneta and Lee Ivers of Midway. Mr. and Mrs. Val Todd of Salt Lake j visited Sunday with Jack and Thir- za Webb. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Webb went to Salt Lake Wednesday where they will meet their grandson, Elder Bob Moffett who has spent the past two years In England on an IDS mission. Bob Is the son of Mrs. Oneta Moffett Ivers. Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Bennett spent last wek at Pedersons Warm Springs In Nevada. They were met there by their son, LaMont and family, Lee and Mary Lou of Richfield. Rich-field. Stephen and wife, Evelyn of Provo and Lee and Connie Nielson Niel-son of Logan. Sutherland DORA ROSE LaVeda Bishop Well, I didn't get all the Easter news in last week. DeLoy and Marilyn Mari-lyn Stewart and children, Carma Lynn, Margaret Ann, Steven, Brad, Richard and Larry of up north, visited their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Stanworth over the Easter weekend. They all went to Meadow gathered up some of the Stewart family and took their Easter lunch to White Mountain. A good time was had by all. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Stanworth were in Salt Lake from Monday until Wednesday. Grant and Clare Peterson were Salt Lake and Bountiful visitors Friday and Saturday. Oscar and Inez Kelly and Norve and Ella Christiensen returned home last Wednesday from Las Vegas, Nev. The Kellys have been gone all winter, part of the time they spent in Fresno, Calif, visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Hilt Kelly. They attended the Golden Wedding celebration for Hilt and Sis. Then their daughters, Dawn and Inez Ann required equal time. They both live in Las Vegas. They've had a nice winter but are glad to be back home, and we are glad to have them. Norve and Ella haven't been gone so long but we missed them too. The Ed Skeem family have had a big get together this weekend. Joe and Kathleen Farris and Micky of Tooele, Rex and Hazel Babbitt and children, Steven, Kathleen and Elizabeth Ann of Roy, Gerold, Mary and Cindy and Fred, Elva and family of Hinckley, they all went to Blackrock Saturday and had a picnic. Paul and Sue Ludwig and little daughters, Tamy Sue and Becky Ann of Provo came Thursday to visit their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Willoughby and Mr. and Mrs. Martin Ludwig. They will return home Tuesday. Dr. Mark Lewis and wife Mar-lena Mar-lena and three little girls of Bountiful Bounti-ful visited their parents, FonRoy and Stella Hawley over the week end. Celso and Kathy Lobo who are attending school at BYU visited their grandfather Les Webb over the weekend. They visited their uncle and aunt, Loren and Beulah Rowley, Sunday and were to church in our ward Sunday evening. Also visiting Sacrament meeting were Mr. and Mrs. LaMar Dewsnup. Their son, Darwin and daughter, Maria Dewsnup were the speakers and Mrs. Darwin Dewsnup played a piano solo. It was a very good meeting. Miss Brenda Skeem, student at BYU is home with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Skeem. Captain Aaron Evans and wife, Mary Ellen visited their sister and brother-in-law, Howard and Glenda Roundy Saturday evening. The captain is on furlough before going to Vietnam. Jack and Virgie Murray of Hol-den Hol-den visited their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hilding Sjostrom Sunday evening. eve-ning. They also visited their uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Kelly. Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Skeem visited in Cedar last Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Grant Humphries and family of Salt Lake visited their father, Cleve Rowley and their brothers, Eldon and Loren Rowley and their families over the weekend. Mark Lovell of Midvale spent the weekend at the home of his uncle and aunt, Deon and LaVerne Gil-len. Gil-len. Bishop and Mrs. Russell Styler attended the Barber Shop Quartet Festival in Provo Friday night. Jennie's brother, Arthur Olsen sang in one of the groups. They enjoyed the evening, all but the flat tire on the way home. Mr. and Mrs. Clark Bishop, Le- mira Bishop, Dorothy Gardner, La Preal Sperry and Myrle Bennett went to the Manti Temple last Wednesday. Beth Day made a trip to Salt' Lake last Wednesday. ! Miss Veda Lovell of Eureka ar-( rived last Thursday evening to visit her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clark Bishop. Dean Bishop of Snow College came Friday evening and the two young people attended the Junior Prom in Delta. They report a very lovely dance. Dean left Saturday morning to attend Conference in Salt Lake and Veda went as far as Eureka with him. I Just a bit of news from our adopted home people, Albert and LaRue Nickle and daughter Carolyn Caro-lyn and daughter and husband, Linda and David Ekins, left Friday morning to visit Mr. and Mrs. Scott Nickle and little son Douglas Lee who live in San Rafael, Calif. They plan to be home Monday. Just heard of the passing of our , dear friend, Henrietta Barben. She has lived such a good, full life. I'm sure we'll all miss her. But she deserves a rest. To her family w3 extend our love and sympathy. j Here it is Monday morning and I was doubly rewarded for getting ; up early. I got my washing on the ' line and I saw a beautiful star with a tail on it. Now more than likely ; all you early risers hase seen jt before, but me, even if I do get ; up early I dont' even stick my nose out side so I was thrilled to see j this, out of the ordinary heavenly; body. It's made my day. I'll bet I'll get up early Tuesday morning ( to see if it's still there in the east. ; I remember hearing of "Halley's Comet" when I was a child maybe ' I even saw it but that I don't; remember, but this star I saw this morning made me think of that ; one. ! Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Verl Tolbert for their new little son who came to them on Sunday the 5th. Mr. and Mrs. Kay Christensen and children were here for Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Moody were here on Friday on business. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Clifford and four children visited here with their sister, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Meinhardt and family. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Mortensen and little daughter, Tisha of Salt Lake and Mr. and Mrs. Michael Katorke and little son, Douglas spent the weekend with their parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Milo Mortensen and brother, Sidney. Mr. .and Mrs. Nate Abbott and son, Neal spent the weekend in Salt Lake with their children, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Abbott, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Abbott and Mr. and Mrs. (Arlene) Chappell. Bishop and Mrs. Thurmon Moody went to Salt Lake Monday to attend at-tend General Conference. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Johnson spent Sunday with the Moody family and Sunday attended the meeting of Alison's brother, Von, who is leaving leav-ing for his mission soon. All family members were there except John who is in Scotland. We may turn our thoughts for a few moments to the life and passing pass-ing of one our noble mothers of this area, that of Mrs. Henrietta Barben who has given of her love and service or good feelings to all for 98 years. There will be a happy reunion for the other members of her family who have gone on be- SECOND WARD AREA NEWS BRIEFS EDDYS BARBEN Mr. and Mrs. Paul Spor of Provo visited here this past weekend. On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Adams and the Spors rode out to the west hills and viewed and visited the "mining" areas there. Mrs. Dale Mathews and four children chil-dren of West Jordon spent Easter In Delta with parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Warner. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Warner drove to Bountiful last Sunday to attend the viewing of the body of an uncle, Daniel Smith who had passed pass-ed away. They attended the funeral Monday. Then on Tuesday Helen Warner attended the funeral of another uncle, Roy Tim in Salt Lake. She returned home with her sister, Mr. and Mrs. Mark Paxton of Fillmore. Mrs. Helen Warner visited In West Jordon Saturday to help celebrate cele-brate the 5th birthday of her grand son, Tod Mathews. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Mathews visit-fore. visit-fore. Happy birthday to Mr. Rulon Anderson whose birthday was on the 6th, Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Leland (Suzanne Sorensen) Rouser and three weeks old Infant son of Cedar visited here Friday on their way to attend a wedding reception In Fillmore. Mr. and Mrs. S. O. Stoddard traveled to Salt Lake Air Port Monday to meet their son, Elder Steven Stodard, who Is just returning return-ing from a two year mission In Canada. Elder Stoddard will report his experiences next Sunday evening eve-ning in the Delta 2nd Ward at 6:30 p.m. Visitors are welcome to hear Elder Stoddard. Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Kimber of Taylorsville Utah are announcing the birth of a 6 lb. 12 oz. baby boy in the Cottonwood Hospital in Murray on the 1st of April. His name will be Ryan McKay Kimber. The new baby has twin sisters, Jeanna and Deanna and a brother, Douglas waiting at home for him. Congratulations to the grandparents grand-parents also, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Kimber. Miss Nan Wankier has completed her schooling in cosmetology at Utah Trade Tech College In Salt Lake and is presently working in Delta at Nona's Beauty Parlor. Mr. and Mrs. Tim Anderson and two children spent Wednesday 'n Green river visiting family and friends there. Mr. and Mrs. Boyd (Colleen Kimber) Kim-ber) Warenskl and four children, Carollyne, Renee, Richard and Dal-lon Dal-lon of North Salt Lake spent Friday Fri-day and Saturday visiting their par nts, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Kimber. SUSC INSTITUTE CHOIR PARTICIPATE IN CONFERENCE The Southern Utah State College Institute Choir, Cedar City, was among the groups that sang at the April General Conference of the LDS Church. Former Delta High students who are members of the choir Include Kathy Lyman, Kim Holman, Patricia Patri-cia Callister, Lyle Walker and Brent Farnsworth, who attends Dixie College but sang with the SUSC choir. MAKES HONOR ROLL Jeff, Dawson, son of Mrs. Lily Dawson of Delta, was named to the honor roll at the American Institute In-stitute of Technology, Phoenix, Arizona. Jeff has an average grade of 91.
