Too often, perhaps, the "extractive" aspect of our work is the only way people see us. We nevertheless have another side to our business and that is the "put-back." We consider our "put-back" a "return" to Utah and its people by virtue of Kennecott's investment in its business in Utah. Take, for example, Utah Copper Division's contributions program. As part of the division's investment, a substantial amount of money is allocated each year to community and state projects, in the following fol-lowing categories: s oi A. Educational Aid B. Community and Welfare C. Medical, Health and Hospital D. Business and Economic These, then, are the basic recipient areas of Kennecott's "put-back." In addition, the good hard-working men and women of Kennecott also participate par-ticipate in such noteworthy programs as the United Fund and U. S. Savings Bond campaigns, not to mention the innumerable hours unselfishly given to religious, recreational, rec-reational, political, civic, vocational and other beneficial projects. True, Kennecott means men, minerals and machines. This combination is the basis for our existence. And, because this combination builds a successful "take-out" business in Utah, it also creates the division's "put-back"of money and service to the community and state. This message is framed by symbols and words representative of the Utah Copper Division's concern and contributions important to the economic and cultural betterment of Utah.
