The annual Quartet Festival was held at the Church Tuesday, Singers of all MIA ages participated in quartets, double quartets and groups nresen od en enjoyable program. pro-gram. Mrs, Lyla Rae Morris, music director was in charge of the program. pro-gram. The son of a former Hinckley resident, Harold Bliss, was killed in a car incident last week in Tooele Cmnty. David A. E'iss, of MMv?tc, son rt Howard and Barbara Bar-bara Jensen Bliss of Price, was the husband of Lou Jeanne Amundsen. Ho h-i a son surviving David T,. Bliss. Howard is a brother-in-law of Mrs. Alice Bliss and a brother of Clark Blic; of Abraham. The Cluff Talbots recaived word this week of the arrival of a new grandson, the baby boy born to Mr. and Mrs. Carl Talbot in Los Angeles. Mr. and Mrs. L. R. Swenson, Mr. and Mrs. Cluff Talbot, Mrs. Janeve Chapman and Mrs. LaFay Corey went to Manti to the Temple on Thursday. After attending temple sessions, they drove Taneve to Sterling Ster-ling to remain for a visit. The Judd Hardy family of Salt Lake visited here with the Carl Hardys on the weekend. Mrs. LaVerne Theobald recently accompanied her son, Paul and Dorothy on a five day trip to Calif. They visited with Shirley and Verrue Theobald and family at Northridge. While there Merlin and Eeulah Theobald and family came from Placentia and they had a family dinner together. LaVerne saw her new little granddaughter, Merlin and Beulah's tiny baby grl for the first time. She was born at Halloween time and is named Sherrie Ann. On the way home from Calif., LaVerne, Paul and Dorothy stopped in Las Vegas and visited with Golden and Carol Theobald and family. Sunday afternoon at the L. R. Swensen home a birthday dinner was given in honor of Lewis's wife, Liisa on her birthday. . Last week Mrs. Gertha Bishop received a telephone call from her son Mike, of Farmington, New Mex. telling her that he had just been made Stake MIA Supt. there. The same evening the Verdell Bishops received a call from their son, Ray of Biloxi, Miss, telling them that he has just been made 1st Counselor Coun-selor in the Bishopric in the ward there. Mrs. Alta Warnick entertained the Rook Club this week. Guests for the evening were, Lyla Rae Morris, Anna Lee Hepworth, Arvilla Workman, Work-man, Elaine Hardy. Wesley Morris was home for the weekend from Ogden where he has just completed three weeks of a six-week course at the Utah Police Academy. On the way back to Ogden he stayed overnight at Gary and Connie's in Salt Lake, Last week Evelyn went up to see Wesley Wes-ley and their children in Salt Lake. All their family met together and had breakfast at Dorothy and Raymond's. Ray-mond's. Dorothy and Raymond aro building a new home and will be moving into it in the next few weeks. In last week's column I stated that the new great-grandchild for Ken and Nina Mecham, the baby born to Mr. and Mrs. Steve Robinson, Robin-son, was a girl. The baby was a I grandson. - Ron Shumway has been to Calif, to visit recently for several days. Belva and Harold Morris attended the Valley Music Hall's presentation presenta-tion of Liberace and his orchestra in Salt Lake on the weekend. Reed and Julie Skeem of Tooele were overnight guests at the home of Mary and Jerold Skeem this week. Dan-ell and Alice Gaye Scow and baby Lisa Gaye visited with Alice Bliss this week from Logan. Bruce Curtis had a friend, DeVon Willden of Granger as an overnight guest. DeVon's parents were visiting visit-ing in Oak City. The Dale Bliss family presented the program in church Sunday evening. eve-ning. Dale and Marlene gave talks and the children gave musical numbers and a poem. The Roger Bliss family were visitors. The Daddy-Daughter Party was held Saturday evening in the Hinck ley School Gym. The girls were given lovely red corsages for the evening. Forest Taylor of Las Vegas visited visit-ed the Parry Taylors recently. They all wont to Mt. Pleasant to see their uncle, Alma Taylor, who has been ill. He is improvinb now. Ron Taylor visited with Alma for three days. This week many of the homes in town were hooked up to the new Town Water System, which has been in the process of completion for the past several months. Mr. Tom Riding and son. Randy: also Mr .and Mrs. Jay Riding1 and two children came for the funeral of Mrs. Eva Wilkins in Delta this wek and stayed with Mrs. Golda Talbot. Margaret and Eldon Jensen ot Bountiful visited with relatives last week and attended the wedding reception of Margaret's niece, Linda Jo Diehl and Wendell Nielson. Sunday Sharon Western's sister and family, Revo and Ren Taylor tnd two children of Fillmore came over and had dinner with the Western Wes-tern family. Floyd Taylor, wife and children of Nephi visited with Floyd's mother, moth-er, Mrs. Reva Taylor. Debra Shipp, who attends BYU, attended the wedding reception for her cousin, Linda Jo Deihl and new husband. Debra is the daughter of Gertha and Steele Shipp of Wash. The Oak City Ward Reiief Society sponsored a turkey banquet at the Stake House recreation center as a fund raising project. They served a lovely banquet and had a good program. Mr. Banks and a group of Scouts from Provo entertained with Indian dances. A large crowd was in attendance to enjoy both the meal and program. Mr. Thurlo Jacobson returned home from the hospital during the week and is doing well. We all wish him a speedy recovery. Mr. Erving Jacobson is also on the sick list at present. Mr. and Mrs. Steven Nielson and children of Tooele and Miss Nola Nielson of Cedar visited over the weekend with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vern Nielson. The MIA held their annual music festival on Tuesday night. They had some lovely numbers and will participate in the Stake Music Festival Fes-tival on Tuesday night at Delta. Mr. and Mrs. Delynn Nielson and children of Salt Lake visited a few days with their mother, Mrs. Twiss Nielson. Mrs. Ann Finlinson met with an accident and hurt her foot Saturday ;virs. ueneverie mancnara also met with an accident and is in the hospital at present. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Talbot and children of Nephi visited their par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Cloyd Talbot who just relumed from Salt Lake where Cloyd has been confined to the hospital. It is nice to have thorn home again and hope Cloyd will soon be out and around again. Miss Sharon Stuart of Salt Lake visited a few days with her folks, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Stuart.. Mr. and Mrs. Dwain J. Finlinson visited in Kamas over the weekend with their daughter and son, Mr. and Mr. Richard Persons. They re ported a lot of snow in that vicip ity and were unable to come home Sunday because of snow packed roads. Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Christensen and children visited in Manti Sun day with Ranae's parents. LOVELL has been I named manager of First Security Bank in Delta, succeeding Otis Walsh, who has announced his retirement. The announcement came from Max Thomas, senior vice president presi-dent and supervisor of the Southern South-ern division of First Security Bank of Utah, N.A. A lifelong resident of this area, Mr. Lovell graduated from Delta High School and attended Brig-ham Brig-ham Young University. He is also a graduate of the Pacific Coast School of Banking held at the University of Washington in Seattle. Mr. Lovell started his banking career in 1947 as assistant manager man-ager of the Delta office of Commercial Com-mercial Bank of Utah, First Security's Se-curity's predecessor, remaining as assistant manager when the bank was acquired by First Security. The banker has been an active member of the community, having hav-ing served four years as city councilman and 15 years as secretary-treasurer of the West Millard Mil-lard Hospital Association. He is past prasident of the Lions Club, and has held numerous positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Mr. Lovell and his wife. Donna, have seven daughters. Delta Heart Day Set for Feb. 8th "I was once a little girl, in Delta, south of here,' is the opening line of an original poem relating the excitements and trials experienced by a young girl growing up in Delta in the 1940's. Written by Beth Willden Will-den Tolbert, Salt Lake City, tho poem is sprinkled generously with names of former Deltans and present pres-ent day residents. Mrs. Tolbert composed the poem for the special day known as "Delta Heart Day," a day of reunion and reminiscing by former area residents resi-dents now residing in the northern part of the state. The 1969 Delta Heart Day is Feb. 8, 1969 at the Holiday Inn, 230 West 6th South. Reservations should be made with Mrs. Tolbert, Box 945A, Rt. 1, Sandy, Utah as soon as possible. Reservations are $2.00.
