Show Millard County Chronicle Thursday, October 8, 1964 FIRST WARD AREA KEVS BRIEFS LEONA WORKS The opening social of the First Ward Relief Society was held Mon day night, Sept. 28. It was a dinner and program and our husbands were honored guests. The tables were decorated in a fall theme. Mrs. Fera Little was the m. c. with the following program: an original reading composed by LaRue Nickle, and read by La Von Taylor; song, Ray and Ethel Western; comic reading, Mrs. Griffiths; song, Mrs. T. Dekker, who was dressed 1 n Dutch costume and sang the verses of the song in her native tongue. The group all joined In the chorus in their native tongue. Mr. and Mrs. Cluff Talbot were stake visitors. visi-tors. Dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Quin Shepherd Tuesday night was a birthday dinner for, Mr. Frank Roberts who was 83 years old. Other members of the family present were Mrs. Roberts, Mr. and Mrs. Orlin Roberts and family and Mr. and Mrs. Elwood Roberts of San Francisco. Wednesday night we had a dinner din-ner party for Mr. and Mrs. Elwood Roberts and for Seth Jackson as it was his birthday. The following guests were present: Mr. and Mrs. Bert Sanford, Mr. and Mrs. Cutler Henrie, Mr. and Mrs. Elwood Roberts, Rob-erts, Mr. and Mrs. Seth Jackson, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Jensen, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Jeffery, Mr. and Mrs. John I. Pratt, Mr. and Mrs. Fera Little, Mr. and Mrs.' Ned Church, Mr. and Mrs. LaMar Works, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Hardy, Mr. and Mrs. Leoyd Lovell, Orvil Jeffery, Evan Gardner and Enid Hopkins. Thursday night the following peo pie helped Wallace and Mary Jeffery Jef-fery celebrate their 38th wedding anniversary at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Jeffery: Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Jensen, Mr. and Mrs. Orvil Jeffery, Mr. and Mrs. Kennard Riding, Rid-ing, Mr. and Mrs. LaMont Works, Mr. and Mrs. Seth Jackson, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Basseit, Evan Gardner and Gary Neiderhauser. After a delicious dinner we spent the evening even-ing visiting and making a book of "Remember Whens". We also watched movies taken 20 to 25 years ago by Orvil Jeffery. Everyone Every-one really enjoyed the evening, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Needham entertained en-tertained Saturday night for Edwin Works, son of Mr. and Mrs. LaMar Works and Ernest Mankin, son of Lola Young and the late E. E. Man-kin. Man-kin. These two boys are in the US Air Force. Edwin is stationed at a base in Ohio and Ernest at a base in Mississippi. The following people were there to meet these tw6 young men: Mr. and Mrs. Heber Bishop, Mr. and Mrs. L. R. Swen-sen Swen-sen and Lewis, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Dennison, Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Crowley and Mrs. LaFay Corey and son David of Hinckley, Mr. and Mrs. LaMar Works, Mr. and Mrs. Elwin Lister and Bill, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Hardy and family, Mrs. Blanche Works, Mrs. Seth Jackson and Sheldon, Mr. and Mrs. LaMont Works and Jessie and Fred, Ray-lene Ray-lene Smith, Roger Ogden, LeRoy Stephenson and Vaun Mankin. Thee two fellows will leave Tues day morning to go back to their bases. Mrs. Brog Hopkins and Debra and Jacquie spent the weekend visiting vi-siting in Salt Lake with Mr. and Mrs. Gary Winkle and family, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Ashton and family and Sharon Hopkins. Mrs. Vera Rowley of Calient. Nevada spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Rex Sperry. Mrs. Donna Jeffery and Mrs. Alma Al-ma Peterson of our ward were In Salt Lake last week to attend Relief Re-lief Society convention. Also, to sing with the Singing Mothers were Lenora Gardner, Norda Roper, Donna Don-na Sagers and Orvetta Nickle. Our ward met with the Third Ward Sunday night for the testimonial testi-monial for Elder Austin Ray Johnson, John-son, son of Madge and the late Austin Johnson. He goes to the East Central States. They lived In our ward far so long that we claim him also. DESERET MRS. EDNA CRRISTEMSElf By not having church Sunday I missed out on seeing anybody to see if they had company or if they had been anyplace. I guess most everyone stayed home and listenel to conference. We were all interested inter-ested Friday to see if we could see Martha Mace, Carol Cropper or Dorothy Croft who were the ones from our ward who sang with the Singing Mothers. They all went to Salt Lake Tuesday and I imagine they had a wonderful time. Mr. and Mrs. Matt Cropper spent Tuesday in Salt Lake. Last Week's News Mr. and Mrs. Keiith Ross and son Larry attended the Ice Follies, as did Mr. and Mrs. Robert Dalton and Mr. and Mrs. Al Willden and son Carl and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hare and children Shauna, Bart and Lori Ann. We visited with Mr. and Mrs. Neil Forster and children Cindy and Greg of Roy and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Carter and Stacey. All met at the Carters in Grange then went to the Fair. Mr. and Mrs. Keith Ross and Larry stayed over Sunday to visit Mr. and Mrs. Wes Dutson and baby Dorothy Lynn and returned home Monday. . , Mr. and Mrs. Tharol Larson went to Elko, Nev. last Sunday to visit their son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Larson, also to see their new baby girl born Sept. 13th. Mrs Larson stayed to help care for the family until Oct. 2nd when Mr. Lar son went out to bring her home. Mrs. Bob Robinson went with the Larsons and visited his son and family, fa-mily, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Robinson of Elko. Mr. Eullala Riding is risitiag her children. She visited in Ely with Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Ashby and 3 daughters and she is now visiting in northern Utah with sons, Max, Tom, Dale and Evan Riding and families. Max is recovering from an accident which happened a few weeks ago (he lost a finger or two). Mrs. Gladys Taylor and Mr. and Mrs. Don Peterson went to Scipio last Friday to attend the funeral of an uncle, Mr. Donald Peterson. Mr. and Mrs. Ned Sperry and children visited Mrs. Gladys Taylor over Sunday. Mr. Marion Harris is still hospitalized, hospi-talized, but is improving. He has been ill for several years. We, his neighbors, wish him better health in the future and extend our best wishes to his wife Hattie and his children. They're wonderful neighbors. neigh-bors. Here to visit Mrs. Madge Johnson John-son and family and to attend the farewell for Elder Ray Johnson were these , out, of town people: Ray's brother, Ab Johnson and family fa-mily of Loa; three cousins who are attending the BYU, Jean Ogden, Nyleen Melton and Mr. and Mrs. Larry Vance, all live in California; three aunts of Spring City, Utah, Mrs. Watson, Mrs. Blackham and Mrs. Baxter; from Provo were Mr. and Mrs. Griffith and son Jim and wife. Ines Damron and son Ralph went to Salt Lake Thursday and on to Dillon, Mont. Friday morning. Ines' son Raymond and wife and Raymond's Ray-mond's partner and wife won a General Electric trip to the World's Fair so Ines went up to take care of her grandchildren while they are gone. Senator Moss was a Deseret vis-itoi vis-itoi Wednesday morning. Jay Cropper took his father Cu-man Cu-man Cropper to the Milford hospital hospi-tal on Thursday where he spent a while. Mr. and Mrs. Jerold Bennett returned re-turned home Thursday from their trip to California. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Black, Audrey and Linda enjoyed the Ice Follies a week ago Saturday. Mrs. Venice Knight and daughter Krystine and Charlene spent Sat urday in Provo where they visited wiih Mr. and Mrs. Bryce Knight and baby son. Krystine also had her eyes checked. Bill Conk was home to visit his family Saturday and Sunday. He is working in Nevada. Beatrice Erickson went to Provo Friday to have her eyes checked, then on to Tabonia to visit her son Ralph and family. She will have her eyes checked again Tuesday before returning home.
