Show Rex Stone of Las Vegas visited over the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harlon Stone. Lane and Dean Losee of Logan visited with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Losee over the weekend. Miss Joyce Hill who attends USU visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Art Hill and Artie over the weekend. week-end. Henrietta Barben and Marie are visiting for a few weeks in Salt Lake with her brother and family, Nymphis Watkins. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Clark made a trip to Salt Lake on Thursday for a medical check up returning Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Johnson of Big Horn, Wyo., brother-in-law of Frelen Shurtz, paid them a visit Wednesday on their way home from California. Alice Adams and family of Salt Lake viisited over the weekend with her sisters and families, June Losee and Inga Mae Shurtz. A stork shower was given for June Losee Saturday night at her home. Fifteen ladies were present. Many lovely gifts were received. Games were played and lovely refreshments re-freshments served. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Clark made m trip to Provo over the weekend. Mr. Cal Boothe returned home after a month's visit to California with Mr. and Mrs. David Jacobs and family. He is now visiting his other children in Salt Lake City. The Relief Society held their annual an-nual day Thursday evening with a fine program with Shirlee Shields in charge. The theme "What's Your Line" was given. They were very good and kept the crowd laughing thxu-out the program. Afterwards a delicious luncheon was served. Our stake visitor was Lavern Theo bald and her husband Carl. Also Mr. and Mrs. Rod Shields, Mr. and Mrs. Curt Shields, Doris Abbott and Maxine Abbott attended. Doris Abbott and daughter-in-law, Maxine Abbott of Layton visited vis-ited over the weekend with Max- ine's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mel Terry and family over the weekend. week-end. Lavern has been ill for some time. Sunday night the program was given by the bishopric with Roy Losee presiding and Cecil Shurtz conducting. Talks were given by Roxie Losee and Glen Segmiller. A piano selection by Linda Losee. Mr. Seegmiller's talk was very good and we ask him to come again soon. Tressa and Rex Jenson made a trip to Richfield on Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Frelen Shurtz made a trip to Salt Lake Tuesday, also, visited in Provo. We are sorry to have two of our dear friends pass away last week, Annie Bishop and Clyde Underhill. Two funerals in one week is too many. We met a lot of dear friends from out of town and both funerals fun-erals were large ones, showing the many friends they both had. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Done have left for a week's vacation. The young couple were married a month ago. Many beautiful and useful home items were given them. A large number of ladies from Leamington, Leam-ington, Lynndyl and other places came to call. Mrs. Erva Bradfield is home now for a few days after being in Las Vegas for a week visiting with a niece, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Chappell and family. The boys and girls home from spring quarter break last week were DeAnn Nielson, U. of U.; Lloved Hansen and Glen Roper, Snow; Roger and Nyra, Logan: Ethyl Lovell was home for a couple of days from a beauty college in Salt Lake. Mrs. Verdene Rawlinson and family fa-mily left by jet plane March 12th for the Hawaiian Islands where Niel has been stationed for the last six months. Hope she had a good trip and I know she'll be happy to be with Neil. Johnson of Fountain Green to the Veterans Hospital in Salt Lake last week, then went up last Saturday Sat-urday and brot him home as he was feeling much better. Erva, Gayl and I went as far as Salt Lake last night (Monday) with Roger and Nyra on their way back to Logan. We went up to get our car Inez took to Salt Lake Sunday. Sun-day. Arrived home at 2:00 a. m. still sleepy! There have been quite a few people peo-ple in town sick with the flu and other ailments. Mrs. Maude Johnson John-son and Louise Lovell were on the sick list for a few days. Glen Ray Grygla of Salt Lake was home for a few days, also, he was ill. Mr. Ralph Overson and boys of Salt Lake were here one day last week visiting with his aunt, Hattie Anderson, also, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Overson of Lynndyl. Mrs. Alta Lovell is in Salt Lake for the week spending the time with her two daughters, Ethyl and Lorn a. Miss Verdene Peterson and friend, sister of Louise Lovell, Is in Utah for a couple of weeks visiting friends and relatives. She lives in Los Angeles and works in the Span ish American Mission Home. Miss Mayna Lovell is having a oarty tonite (Monday) to celebrate her 12th birthday. Many of her friends of Leaminigton and Lynndyl Lynn-dyl are invited. Happy Birthday, Mayna. The traveling assembly from Delta High School will furnish furn-ish the program. The supper will begin promptly at 7 p.m., as the program will begin at 8:00 sharp. Fried chicken and all the trimmings trim-mings will be served. Now I have to get in on the deal too. We, the beautification committee, will sell chances on Surprise Packages, the proceeds to be used for the fireplace, fire-place, as our estimate was a little short. Hope to see you all there. FIRST WARD AREA tIEVS BRIEFS LEONA Mr. and Mrs. Med Hawley, Linda Sue and Mrs. Mina Steele were in Salt Lake last Tuesday and Wednesday Wed-nesday on business. Congratulations are in order for Jerry and Paige Hawley who have a new baby boy born Sunday, Mar. 22. A little sister is waiting at horn for him. This is a new grandson for Mr. and Mrs. Med Hawley and Mr. and Mrs. Bud Bassett. We wish to extend our sympathy to the Bishop and Hilton family on the loss of their mother nnd sister. I became acquainted with these two families when Grandpa Hilton and his wife Aunt Carrie lived just across the street from us. We will surely miss Clvde Under hill in our part of town. Everyone knew him and will remember his friendly smile and ready wit. We offer our sympathy to Mrs. Underhill Under-hill and the family at this time. I'm sure their were many others that I did not know or see. It was a very impressive service and I'm sure the family was well pleased. Mrs. Fontella Bishop returned to Delta last week after spending the winter in Salt Lake with her parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Sampson who have been ill most of the time. At present they are both feeling better. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Bishop and family fa-mily of Banning, Calif, arrived in Delta last weekend to spend their spring vacation with their parents, Mrs. Fontella Bishop and Mr. and Mrs. Leland Callister. Joe and Carolyn are both teaching schooi in Banning. Their family consists of three boys, Gregory, Robert and Michael. We all want to express our love and sympathy to the Grant Bishop family at the death of their mother, moth-er, Annie Bishop. Mr. and Mrs. John Wind are visiting vis-iting their daughter, Mildred and family in California. Mrs. Dora Rose and son Michael, visited in Orem last week with Dora's brother, Ephraim Twitchell and family. Mr. and Mrs. Clement Hilton of Farrington, New Mexico, visited the Max Johnsons. Hettie Johnson is home after visiting vis-iting in Los Angeles. Mr. and Mrs. Owen Benson of Los Angeles have purchased the Ike Sorensen home and are preparing pre-paring to move in to it. It will be good to have the house occupied again. They were joined -by Garry and Ann Dalton of Circleville and Richard Rich-ard and Marsha Henrie of Cedar. WORKS Wednesday. He and his wife Hazel were living in Delta when I came to live here. He was County Agent and had many friends here. It was just last fall that they were here and visited with their many friends. We offer our sympathy to Mrs. Whornham. Mr. and Mrs. June Black attended the services in Idaho Ida-ho Falls. Mr. and Mrs. Rex Sperry were in Clearfield last Tuesday to attend funeral services for a nephew, Danny E. Bradfield who was 10-yrs. old and died suddenly Friday at the Clearfield Clinic. Mrs. Rosella Mortensen of Dwar-tie, Dwar-tie, Calif, spent the weekend visiting visit-ing with her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Rex Sperry. Mrs. Mortensen Mor-tensen was on her way home after attending the services in Clearfield. Home for the weekend and between be-tween quarters, that I saw, were Dwa-ine Jackson, Jerry Huff, Kay and Larry Odean, Stephen Allred, Reed Broderick, Delene Ashby, Carol Car-ol Ann Jeffery, Fred Works, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Taylor. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Hawley and Dale Mc-Cormick. Mc-Cormick. Bishop and Mrs. Arthur Jensen were in Salt Lake a week ago to attend a testimony meeting at the mission home where Zelma had been for a week before her departure de-parture to the New England Mission. Mis-sion. There were 185 missionaries at the mission home that week. Twenty-one of them boarded the train Monday morning, eight to go to the New England Mission and 13 to the Great Lakes. Ruth spent a week in Spanish Fork visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Bob Farris and family before returning home Saturday. Sat-urday. She brot her young granddaughter grand-daughter home with her for a visit. Margaret Young went to Salt Lake with Bishop and Mrs. Arthur Jensen to attend the testimony meeting as her brother Elder LaVar La-Var Young was one of the missionaries. mission-aries. Elder Young entered the BYU to learn a language before he leaves to be located in Guatemala. He is the son of Chester and Nelda Young who lived in our ward and in Delta while their children at tended school. LaVar graduated from Delta High School. Hostesses will be Geneal Jensen, Norma Jensen and Trula Abbott. 4-II Organization Now Underway The West Millard 4-H Advisory Council, organizational leaders for each community and the USU Extension Ex-tension Agents, Marven Ogden and MarGenne B. Rowley, enjoyed a dinner meeting at Hatch's Cafe, Wednesday, March 18. Mr. Ogden explained the com munity 4-H organization to those present. He explained to them how 4-H has to have the cooperation of everyone from the USU staff at Logan to our members and parents of West Millard County. Without our parents' support our members could do nothing. The 4-H community organizational organization-al meetings were then set up in the following order: March 25 Deseret, Oasis, at Des- eret Chapel March 25 Leamington, at Ward Chapel March 26 Hinckley, Abraham, at Hinckley Chapel April 1 Delta, at Stake House April 2 Lynndyl, at Ward Chapel Cha-pel April 8 Oak City, at Ward Chapel Cha-pel April 9 Sutherland, Sugarville, at Sutherland Chapel All these meetings will start at 7:30 p.m. The parents are asked to be there if they want their children child-ren enrolled in 4-H. The members should be there with their parents if they want to be enrolled in 4-H. A dinner was served at the church following the funeral services, for the family. Following play practice Monday night the young people had a small surprise for Jim Nickell. He was presented witih a cuff link set. Cake and pop was served. We are going to miss him in our group. Tuesday night we had the play and a pot luck dinner. Both were very good. I am proud to be working work-ing with such fine young people. We want to welcome Mr. and Mrs. John Spark to our community. Mr. Spark is an operator with the F.A.A. We are glad to have them witih us. The Roberts lived here two years ago and we are always al-ways happy to hear from them. Velda Sheriff and Fred Shirts of Salt Lake will be married March 26 in the Salt Lake Temple. Velda is the daughter of Guy Sheriff of Nephi and Hazel Sheriff of Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove. The Sheriffs are former residents of Lynndyl and we wish the newlyweds much happiness. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Overson and son Carl of Bountiful are visiting at the home of Ralph's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Overson. Tom Best was released from the Payson hospital Thursday. He had been there for three weeks for treatment. Mr. and Mrs. Junior Baird and children of Richfield spent the weekend at the home of their parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Wilkins. The Relief Society held their Annual An-nual Birthday dinner Friday night. They served a delicious dinner to everyone. Then there was a program pro-gram entitled, Lynndyl Ward Presents Pre-sents "Truth or Consequences," with Laura Bradfield as M.C. The following program was presented: talk, Nina Wilkins; song, Singing Mothers; each of our former bishops bish-ops and our present bishop was honored and given a book, present with their wives were Alma J. Banks, Lile Johnson, Clead Nielson, Earl Greathouse, Reed Nielson and Phil Nielson with each giving remarks; re-marks; harmonica solo, Lawrence Bradfield; reading, Ruth Abegglen. Then we had our o wn Beattles, wigs, guitars and all more com monly known as Reed Nielson, Clead Nielson, Lile Johnson and Earl Greathouse. These gentlemen are wonderful entertainers. They can hit notes and twist better than England's Beattles ever thought of doing.
