In 1961, Bob and I were going to Fishlake along with Jack and June (Reid), "Spug" and V rginia (Sper ry) and Bill and Marilyn (Bishop). Before we left I trotted down town to buy some new capris. I became so excited that I couldn't wait until I reached home to try my favorites on again! I You know, they f t and much better. I daresay I'm the only woman in town with capris patched in the back of the kneel 1 (Reason for one resolution). Reason for the second resolution Is just as ridiculous. I couldn't wait until the day of the Fine Arts Guild meeting. (No one needs culture cul-ture as much as I.) So I dressed in my best "bib and tucker" and sat through the meeting Lterallyj soaking up culture and thoroughly ( enjoying it. Did I ever feel "lost cause" wherf I arrived home and discovered that I hadon earrings of two different sets a purple and a brown one!! Woe is me,- Some of us are just born misfits. How boring life would be if we were all "fits," huh? Right here 111 retract. I really have been reading the daily paper. Is it true that we are mo-ring our society closer to socalism and eommunism by our legislative practices even while condemning both as contrary to our way of life as quoted by Maurice H. Straus In "American System Can Outlast Red Russ'a. If" in Monday's Tribune? Tri-bune? Bob looked at me in amazement when I said aloud "I don't care what anyone says, even one state such as this (Wewere in Oklahoma at the time is worth fighting for." Then- I had to explain that while we were riding on Oklahoma's wonderful highways through those beautiful red rolling hills the thot struck me that "We Americans have every right to be proud of our country and its history and it's worth standing up to anything for." So that brings up a question "What can I, one private citizen, do to help this country hold its present strength and to help strengthen it more?" Christmas. 191, was a time of sadness and one of gladness for me. I bel'eve that the residents of West Millard County certainly had the proper spirit of Christmas in giving so generously to the West Millard Hospital Assn. There n lies, my gladness.' Perhaps Christmas 1962 well decide to do the same' thing again and go one step more by feilmmating all fancy r'bbons' and paper from our gifts and donating do-nating the money to the Association Associa-tion Building Fund. j Two questions asked me quite frequently on our trip were "How's the. Hospital coming along" and "How are conditions of Millard School District." j Interesting, don't you think? Turner, Diana Smith and Ellen Smith. Jill Hansen was flower girl. monies for the evening.
