How differently the two gave thanks for their recovery. Aren't we glad we have a simple faith and live a simple life, out here in God's great open spaces? Ssgt Don Mellen and wife La-Vern, La-Vern, with their three children Don Jr., Jan and Jeff are here to visit with their mother, Mrs. Evon Greener. Sgt. Mellen with the fa France, just 50 miles out of Paris. They are now located in Salt Lake where he is a recruiting officer in the Air Force. Last weekend Evon had her son Dentley down to dance in the floorshow at the Gold and Green Ball held in Fillmore Saturday Satur-day night. Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon Western, Mr. and Mrs. Alma Western and Mr. and Mrs. David Hofheins all went to Provo Sunday evening to attend a farewell testimonial for Lee Western, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rulon Western, prior to his departure depar-ture for a mission to the North Central States. Mrs. Irene Theobald has been in Las Vegas for a -couple of weeks with her daughter, Lena and husband hus-band Leo Homey to help her with the new little baby girl. She returned re-turned Saturday. Gena Ekins is home from the Payson Hospital. George and Bine went for hint Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Chester Wheeler of Garrison spent Saturday at Mr. and Mrs. Duane Gallis home. Delma Jean Galli with the school board visited the schools, Eskdale, Gandy and Garrison Wednesday. She said it was really Interesting to see the differences in the schools especially at Eskdale where the children live in dormitories, go to bed early and arise at 5 o'clock. She said, "They have a wonderful string orchestra in the school and the hope to have them in to perform per-form for us, sometime in the future. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Hunsaker of Provo visited parents, Mr. and Mrs. Loren Talbot on Sunday. Saturday Sat-urday morning LorLn had a bad fall. He caught his foot and fell out of his truck on the ground face down. He was badly shaken up. Mr, and Mrs. Harold Morris returned re-turned home from their two weeks vacation in California Thursday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. C F. Patterson Pat-terson drove them home from San Mateo, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. George Barton of Midvale came on down with them, for the celebration of their father, John H. Western's 92 birthday. The children presented him .with a new suit of clothes. Saturday night they all met at Hatch's City Cafe for dinner and a family party. The family attending were Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Allred, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Damron, Mr. and Mrs. Elwin Pace, Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Patterson, Mr. and Mrs. Harold R. Max Bishop and his father, Don visited our Sunday School Sunday morning. Mr. and Mrs. Eccles Bishop are living in Hinckley. We are happy when our young people settle here and hope they can make a go of it so they can stay. Mr. Ed Trimble, Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon Trimble and daughter Ann and Mrs. Blanch Lowder all from Fillmore visited Mr. and Mrs. Mel- vin Webb and Mrs. Adell Petersen Sunday. Leonard Palmer took his mother to the LDS Hospital Saturday to have her blood built up and an all around going over. He returned Sunday and left her there. Mr. and Mrs. Elwin Peay from Springville visited the Ren Taylors on Sunday. We all join in expressing deepest sympathy to Fontella Bish op, her children and all the relatives rela-tives in the loss of Layton. He was a' wonderful person, P. T. A. METTING HELD The founding of the Parent-Teachers Parent-Teachers Association was the theme of the PTA meeting held Monday, Feb. 27. Mrs. Hardy's class presented a skit entitled "A House To Live In." It was directed by program chairman, Betty Jane Morris. Mor-ris. Miss Patrice Bishop played a piano solo. Miss Martha Crafts, acting as a representative of the Delta High School English department, ac-quainted ac-quainted the group with the school's literary publication, "Mnemosyne". "Mne-mosyne". Mrs. Dorothy Damron gave a brief history of the PTA, its purpose and its accomplishments. Eyre of Salt Lake, who was president of the Hawaiian Mission when Layton and Fontella Bishop were there, came home to speak at Layton's funeral Monday. Martha, Mark and Ruevo Crafts drove to Hurricane Tuesday to spend the week with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Ken Mecham and son, Dick went to Grantsville Sunday Sun-day to see relatives and friends and to Provo to visit son, Ronald and family.
