Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Ashby and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Ashby, from Ely, Nevada, visited with their friends during the week and stayed with Mr. and Mrs. George Abbott Mr. and Mrs. Bryant Jones and small son visited our Sunday School and sacrament meeting on Sunday. We sure enjoyed having them. Mr. and Mrs. Alden Shurtz from Salt Lake City, visited Thursday and Friday with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Memmott and Bishop and Mrs. Frelen Shurtz. Mrs. Henrietta Barben and Marie, also Mr. .and Mrs. Archie Barben, and daughters, Colleen and Linda Kay. made a trip to West Jordan to the funeral of Mrs. Ruth Barben, on Wednesday. She was a sister-in- law to Mrs. Henrietta Barben. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Hill and some friends from California have been visiting at Mr. and Mrs. Art Hills and also doing some deer hunting. Phyllis Jenson was baptised on Sunday. Bob Jenson has returned home after working at Yucca Flats in Nevada. LeAuer Shields came in from Nevada for a visit with his wife, Shirlee, and little daughter, Julie, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rod Shields and Mr. and Mrs. George Jenson. Sunday night was Relief Society conference. The theme "To Build Up A Spiritual House." Prelude music by Elaine Losee, prayers by Christinia Boothe and Melva Shields. .Sustaining of officers by Stella Shurtz, greetings and report by President Victoria Jenson. Song by the Singing Mothers. Talks on the theme were by Eve Shields, Rom Shields, Devon Memmott, Ann Shields and testimony by Eileen Boothe, also remarks by Sister Belva Morris, stake counselor. Mr. Harold Morris visited us along with his wife. Bishop P.oy P. Hilton performed the ceremony in the presence of members of the families and close friends. The bridal pair greeted guests at the reception later in the Hinckley recreation hall, beautifully decorated deco-rated for the occasion with fall flowers. The charming bride wore a ballerina bal-lerina length gown of nylon tulle and lace over taffeta, with fitted bodice styled with scalloped neckline neck-line and long tapered sleeves. The mothers of the couple were gowned in rose and blue, and wore corsages of white chrysanthemums with pink roses. Attending the "bride were Mrs. Geraldine Allred, sister of the bride, as matron of honor, and Helen Christensen, LaRae Underwood, Under-wood, Marlene Hillhouse, Edith Schlappi, and flower girls, Vickie Aleen Allred and Elizabeth Black. They were gowned in blue taffeta, and carried bouquets of blue chrysanthemums chry-santhemums with lace, ribbon and iridescents. Dale Thomas performed duties of best man for his "brother. Mrs. Josie Thompson was in charge of the bride's book. Sheldon Christensen was master of ceremonies for the program, which was a vocal solo by Stephen Black, with Ruth Talbot as accom panist; piano solo, Wilma Lovell; vocal solo, Marilyn Allred, and responses re-sponses by the bride and bride groom. Many friends from Malad, Salt Lake City and surrounding towns attended the reception. Kent Schlappi, Sam Thompson, Bud Banks, and Stephen and Richard Black were ushers. The couple left on a honeymoon trip to Las Vegas, Nevada, and southern California. They will return re-turn to make a home in Salt Lake City. R. Mortensen returned to Delta last week after a trip to Mexico City and New York, "by airline from Oct. 4 to Oct 19, with his son, Clair Mortensen, of Salt Lake City. They left Salt Lake airport Oct 4 and two hours and 15 minutes later were in Los Angeles. The next day they went sightseeing and visited the Los Angeles LDS Temple. That afternoon they left by airline for Mexico City, and arrived there eight hours later. In Mexico City they thoroughly enjoyed sightseeing and trips to the pyramids, Cuernavaca, Taxco, Toluca, bullfights, museuma and churches. On Oct. 14, they took the plane for home, by way of New Ordeans and New York City. In New York they also went sightseeing, to the theatres, Stock Exchange, and viewed New York from the 70th floor of the RCA Building. Five days were spent in New York, and they took the plane Oct. 19 for Salt Lake City. Mr. Mortensen said this was one of the finest trips, and he enjoyed it all. In Mexico City they visited the oldest glass factory in Mexico, where glassware is all handblown, leather factories where all kinds of leather goods are made. They went to the National Palace and the National Museum, where many relics of the Aztec civilization are now on display, Including the Axtec Calendar stone weighing 27 tons. In New York City they also visited the United Nations Building and saw one of the assemblies in session. Married Oct. 17 In Temple Rites Congratulations to Marvin J. Moody and a welcome to his bride are being made since their marriage marri-age in mid-October. The couple was married Thursday, Thurs-day, October 17, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. After a honeymoon trip to Sun Valley and a tour in Idaho, they returned to Delta and are making their home on Mr. Moody's farm at Sutherland. The bride was Mrs. Lyle Williams, Will-iams, of Salt Lake City, before her marriage to Mr. Moody. Honor Fillmore Matron Nov. 6 A testimonial honoring Mary A. Dame for her many years of services ser-vices at the "Old State Capitol" at Fillmore, was held Wednesday, November 6, at 2 p. m., In the art room of the State House. J.C. News On Oct. 15, the Delta FFA officers met in Fillmore for an Area Leadership meeting which was held in the FFA Department Along with the Millard and Beaver officers we learned about new ways in which to make our chapter a better one. Mark Nichols, State Director of Vocational Agr., visited our chapter, chap-ter, Wednesday, October 16. Carl Webb, Cuman Cropper and Gordon Johnson returned from Kansas City, Missouri, where they had attended the National FFA Convention. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Manning, of Lehi, and twins, Gary and Sherry, and brothers, Dale and Michael Manning, Mr. and Mrs. Clair M. Gardner, of Salt Lake City, and Royal Gardner, from BYU, were weekend visitors with their parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Clair Gardner, and the men joined the deer hunt. While the men were out on the annual deer hunt, Mrs. Owens and daughters, Mrs. Brush and Mrs. Shirley Skeem, spent several days in Salt Lake City, where they were joined by Mrs. Flora Owens Campbell, of Magic Valley, Idaho. Copt. Tex Mosely, recently home from Germany, was a Delta visitor this week with his mother, Mrs. Laura Egan. While Tex took in the deer hunt, his wife and young sons are in St. George. Mr. and Mrs. Elwin Dutson and children, from Salt Lake City, visited visit-ed in Delta during the week with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Newell Iverson. Mrs. Harold Gottfredson, of Circleville, visited in Delta last week with her mother, Mrs. Lula Warnick, and daughters, Mrs. Linda Lin-da Bunker and Miss Nancy Nelson.
