Night in Delta A fine dinner and outstanding program will draw five hundred persons or so to the Deseret Stake House Saturday evening, for the entertainment sponsored by the First Quorum of Elders, to raise money for a missionary fund. The dinner, at 8 p. m., will be prepared and served by the wives of the Elders. Tickets for the affair have been sold throughout the stake. The program that follows the dinner comes from Brigham Young University, and features fine talent from the "Y" iin dance and music. A talented M.C. from the college will announce the numbers, and the Rockettes, precision tap dance group of girls, will present the unusual dance act that has won them acclaim in three years tours. According to figures based on national, state, and local averages, stated Dr. Sheets, Millard County has a total of 316 handicapped children. It has just been two years since the State Legislature rearranged the wording of the 'aw making funds available for the education and training of these children from that of "physically "physi-cally handicapped" to "handicapped" "handicap-ped" which -makes the program and facilities now available much broader than formerly. V- Single Copy 10 cents Open Scouting Leadership Training Course Plans for the University of Scout-ng Scout-ng leadership training course, to e held at the Deseret Stake louse, ere announced by the Dis- ict Scouting committee. The course requires 7 sessions, if 2 hours each, to qualify for '.raining certificates. These will be awarded at the completion of the course by the Utah National Parks Council. There will be a small registration registra-tion fee of 50 cents per person to defray the cost of such items as instructional supplies, badges, etc. Meetings will open in the chapel with short exercises and announcements. announce-ments. Game Play Millard in Last League Game Friday The Delta Rabbits pulled thru their game last week by beating the Milford Tigers 48-38 on the local floor. Eddie Cole proved to be the big gun for the Rabbits in their victory. vic-tory. Cole scored 1G points and dso played a good defensive game. This win will put the Rabbits n third place and with the Beavers Bea-vers beating Millard last week, ake over second place. Beaver s thru with their league games ind if the Rabbits can beat the Eagles this Friday, at Fillmore, they will be tied with Eeaver for the runner-up position. At present it is not known who or where the tournament will be to decide another entry into the State Class B basketball tournament tourna-ment to be held in Provo on March Mar-ch 13-16. Second and third place teams from the Millard and Dixie Divisions will be eligible, with the game being played on one of the second place team's floor. Cedar City beat Dixie last week to throw that division into a tie. So at present it can still be Dixie 1 Cedar City, Kanab or Hurricane Ifrom the Dixie Division. The Milliard Mill-iard divison is a little more sure however, with Parowan already in the state tournament. It will be ; Delta, Eeaver or Milford representing represent-ing this division. ! James Keunelly Ddies In Florida Friends at Delta learned Monday Mon-day of the death of Jame Kennel-ly, Kennel-ly, Deltan for many years, on Feb. 19, at Sebring, Florida, of e cerebral cere-bral hemorrhage. He and Mrs. Kennelly, the former for-mer Edna Beck, have lived In Vermont, since they left their Delta farm several years ago. They were In Florida on a month's vacation when Mr. Kennelly died. Survivors are' his wife, Chelsea, Vermont, daughter, Mrs. George (Betty) Edwards, three grandchildren, grandchild-ren, and a brother, Jack Kennelly, Hillsboro, Ore. Mr. Kennelly was one of the early settlers on the South Tract, and farmed there for years. Win Gift for Aid to March of Dimes in Polio Ilcv. Hamilton Died .Inn. 30 Mrs. Alice Jensen had word this week from Mrs. Mary Hamilton, her friend of many years, of the death of her husband, the Rev. Charles H. Hamilton, on Jan 30, at Newburgh, Ind. He was 86 years old. Funeral services were conducted Feb. 4 in the First Presbyterian Church, at Ord, Neb., with Rev. Robert Ro-bert Enzza, who was a student minister in Delta, officiating. The Rev. Hamilton and Mrs. Hamilton came to Delta in 1913. Earlier they had served as missionaries miss-ionaries in Korea. During the years Rev. Hamilton was here the Community Com-munity Church was built, much by him, as he was a fine carpenter. Since leaving Delta about 20 years ago, Rev. Hamilton and Mrs. Hamilton had been in Florida, and later in Indiana, where they resided re-sided in a home for retired ministers. min-isters. Home Makers Mrs. Rhea H. No. 2 Skips Tax Levy Millard County Drainage District No. 2 will not assess a tax levy this year, according to the supervisors, super-visors, Cecil Warner, W. C. Cole, and Gln Crawford. They have enough funds on hand, the supervisors stated, to I carry them through and no tax levy was necessary. Starly, Millard March of Dimes chairmen, presented the picture shown here to the sixth grade at Delta Elementary Ele-mentary School for their generous support of the annual polio fund drive. Judy Shepherd accepted the picture pic-ture for her class, and then the class presented the picture to the school. This is the third ypar the school. This is the third year the, Mr. and Mrs. Starley. Around three hundred visitors are expected for the affair, and Delta Odd Fellows and Rebekahs have arranged hospitality for their stay. Rebekah Assembly sessions will be held in the IOOF Hall. Three of their meetings will be open to the public, when the decoration of. the Degree of Chivalry is made Monday evening, at 7 p. m., Tuesday Tues-day at 9 a. m., memorial ceremonies, ceremon-ies, and Wednesday evening at Delta First Ward, 7:30 and 8:30, for the installation and demonstration drill. Odd Fellows will meet In the Grand Encampment Monday, in the American Legion Hall above the Delta Drug. Mr. Starley commended the entire en-tire school for their response to the March of Dimes, which totalled $212.06. Mrs. June Reid, secoad grad teacher, served as chairman of the school campaign. Edith Anderson Named Chairman Of USCC Drive The Utah Society For Crippled Children and Adults announces the appointment of a Chairman for West Millard County for their fund raising drive which begins Marco. 15 and continues through April 21. Easier Sunday. Saturday Mrs. Edith Anderson of Delta was named chairman by Lyman Ly-man S. Shreeve, Executive Director Direc-tor of the Society. As assistants-to Mrs. Anderson, the Society has named Mr. and Mrs. Paul Theobald and Mrs. Reliance Wood. About 92 of the money raised by the Utah Society during thl drive is to remain in Utah for thft crippled children and adults of the state.
