I Hlndlcy Hinckley will once again welcome wel-come home a native son June 1 and 2 when the University of Utah Male Chorus and "Nonettes" hold their second annual concert and party there. Director of the prominent music groups is John Marlowe Nielson, member of the U. of U. mosic raculty and accomplished musician and singer. Mr. Nielson spent the eprly part of his life in Hinckley. He is director of the University Choral, the male chorus and "Non-ettes" "Non-ettes" and has gained a wide reputation rep-utation as a vocalist and music educator. The U. of U. singing groups will present a concert in Hinckley LDS Word Chapetl Friday, June 1, and the following day will be guests of the town at an amateur rodeo and a party in the sand dunes. Swimming and an excursion thru the area also are included on the itinerary. Local arrangemente are being handled by Oren Bliss of Hinckley. The U. of U. singing groups made their first trip to Hinckley last year and members are looking forward with pleasure to the event again this year. Mr. Nielson said the trip is planned as the annual "oi'tin?" of the singers. Mr. Nielson joined the U. of U. staff ei'ht years ago after many years of high quality professional training. He studied in New York at the Juilliard School of Music and the Columbia Teachers College and his private vocal training was with Paul Relmers and Solon Al herti. His, early musical activities took him to the famous Riverside Church, Rutgers Church and St. Paul's Chapel and won for him first prize on the Major Bowes Amateur Hour. Recently Mr. Nielson has trained he University Chorale for partici' pation In such performances as Verdi's "Requiem;' Haydn's "Creation," "Crea-tion," Beethoven's "Missa Solem-nls." Solem-nls." Robertson's "Book of Mormon Oratorio," Mozart's "Reguiem," and Beethoven's "Ninth Symphony," all presented with the Utah Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Maurice Abravanel. Mr. Nielson Is now chairman of the Summer Vocal Workshop at the university, a position he has held several years. This event draws teachers and participants from all over the nation. His University Male Chorus tours throughout Utah and neighboring states every year. Recently the chorus appeared in the famous Carthay Circle Theatre in Beverly Hills, Calif., with Danny" Thomas and Rod O'Connor. A new responsibility and distinction distinc-tion was awarded Mr. Nielson last summer while he was attending the University of Colorado Opera I.O.O.F. Party Thursday At Sutherland Invitation to a party Thursday night, at 8 p. m., in Sutherland Ward Is extended to the Aaronlc Priesthood of Deseret Stake, and also .girls of the same age, 12 to 19 years. There will be an excellent program, pro-gram, and refreshments will be served. The stake Aaronic priesthood committee is in charge of the party. Mrs. Ethel George, who has lived in Salt Lake City since the first of the year, suffered a heart attack Saturday while making a weekend visit in Delta. She was at the Delta hospital Saturday and Sunday, and then was taken to the LDS hospital Sunday afternoon by ambulance. She made the trip to Delta with her son Earl, from Salt Lake, and after she was taken ill her sons, Vernon and Lt. Blanie George, from Washington, and daughters, Rosalind Brown, from Salt Lake and Delia Hatton, from Los Angeles, Ange-les, came to Delta and accompanied accompan-ied her to Salt Lake City. Workshop. He was appointed chair man of the Metropolitan Opera Auditions of the Air for Utah. These auditions recently were held In Salt Lake City and the winners took part in the regional contest In Denver. Mr. Nielson also gives private vocal lessons in addition to his many other duties. The young couple will say wedding wed-ding vows Saturday, March 31, and will be honored at a wedding reception re-ception that night from eight to eleven o'clock, in Delta First Ward recreation hall. - Mrs. Bertha Lambert, who has been at her North Tract farm since January settling affairs after the death of her husband, J. L. Lambert, is leaving Delta Thursday for Fort Collins, Colo., where she will reside with her daughter, Mrs. O. K. Sherwood. The Lambert farm was sold to Rufe Clark, and will be operated by his son, Bill Clark. Mrs. Lambert's sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Albin, have been here with her, and are returning re-turning to their home at Fort Collins Col-lins at this time, taking Mrs. Lambert Lam-bert with them. Boyd and Erma Jean Rollins and sons, Allen and Bob, visited in Delta last week wiith Mrs. Rollins' parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sterling Ben-nion. Ben-nion. They were recently returned to Utah from Maryland, where Mr. Rollins served as. first lieutenant at Aberdeen Proving Grounds. They are now making their home in Provo, and Mr. Rollins will resume re-sume studies at BYU. Mr. and Mrs. Golden Black drove to Salt Lake City Monday with their daughter Loabelle, who was returning to the U. of U. after a weekend visit. Mine, was a patient at Delta hospital over Tuesday night, for treatment of an accidental gunshot gun-shot wound in his leg. .Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Moody have returned to Delta from a week in California, where they visited at Oakland, and attended the dedication dedica-tion of the Los Angeles Temple. Mr. and Mrs. Garff Maxfield and Mr. and Mrs. Verrue Theobald attended at-tended dedication rites of the Los Angeles Temple last week.
