Show Joifi Strontjs One-Mntj Cireu Oak CHy By Mae H. Shipley On July 3rd the John A. Strong One-ring Circus will appear in Delta at First ward Grounds under the sponsorship of 1st ward M.I.A. The John A. Strong Circus Is not a large show, but comes to our city well recommended from the Los Angeles City Schools. It has excellent rating with the Latter-day-Saints Church, through Mr. Le land Payne, Welfare Coordinator. The circus is principally dogs, clown, juggler, baby monkey, high-diving high-diving dog, magic acts, pony. Featuring Feat-uring Felix Vallee. Mr. Strong, who is thirty-one years old, follows in his father's footsteps. John Strong Sr., was a clown and juggler over fifty years, and his son now has his own show which is a life's dream. The circus is for the entire family fam-ily with good clean entertainment at moderate prices. The circus will give 2 shows at 7:30 and 8:30. Be sure to save the date, and don't miss the "Greatest little show on Earth". FOUR NEW ACTS THIS YEAR! KITCHEN DUET 4-H The Kitchen Duet 4-H club or ganized and held their first meet ing Saturday, June 13,- at the home of their leaders, Bonnie B. Robison and Dorothy Sabin. Gay Robinson is President and vice president, and Joyce Miller is secretary, treasurer and reporter. They learned how to prepare grapefruit for breakfast. Then they held a discussion meet ing at Joyce Miller's on Tues day June 23, at 5 p.m. Meeting was called to order by Gay Robinson. Rob-inson. The minutes were read, then we read out of different books that we had received. Mrs. Miller was our visitor. She explained to us, how we should conduct our. meetings. Refresh- Sunday evening services were got.-d and well attended. The speakers spea-kers were Bruce Levell, Myron Chris tensen and Esdras Finlinson, and a song in the Samoan language by Elders Gayle Nielson and Paul Finlinson, who returned Saturday night from their missions to the Samoan Islands. They have been away two and a half years. Thev both look fine and we are very glad to welcome them home. Bishop and Mrs. Don Anderson and daughter Levern and son Glen left Monday morning for their farm in Idaho. They expect to be gone about two weeks. Mrs. Helen Anderson is visiting in Salt Lake this week. Mrs. Angeline Mecham from Tropic spent the week in Oak City. Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Shipley visited in Oak City. They are spending spen-ding their vacation in California. Mr. and Mrs. Don Melville and children spent the week end here. Their home is in Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Clead Lovell from Salt Lake spent the weekend in Oak City. Mr. and Mrs. Peter Nielson and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Nielson and children spent last week visiting at Leslie Idaho, with Mr. and Mrs. Glen Nielson. Mrs. Esther Christensen has her daughter, Verona, and little son visiting her, for a week. Her home is in Salt Lake. Mrs. Caddie Anderson is with her children at Provo this week. Mrs. Donna Anderson and Mrs. Ava Anderson took her to Provo Monday. Esdras Finlinson and other relatives re-latives attended the funeral set- vices for Mrs. Maud Faust at Salt Lake. Mr. and Mrs. William Mace and family from Fillmore visited Monday Mon-day with Mrs. Mace's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Dewsnup. A large number of families spent Sunday, Fathers' Day, at Oak creek canyon. The National Safety Council records re-cords show that approximately 6, 500 persons drowned in 1951 and of these, about 3,200 were non-swimming non-swimming fatalities, consisting principally of persons slipping or stumbling and Tailing into water. Last Sunday night the program in meeting was given by Brothers Oakes and Joe Henrie, the two carpenters who had charge of our building.
