Clegg, Salt Lake City, announcement was made ol the engagement of Miss Margorie Peterson to Richard Gilbert Bar ton, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. Gil bert Barton, American Fork. The bride-elect is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. J. Albert Peterson, Salt Lake City. Little Berta Clegg, daughter of the hostess, presented the guests with dainty parchment scrolls tied with satin streamers, which announced the wedding date for August 31, in the Salt Lake IDS temple. Immediately following the cere mony a wedding breakfast at the Newhouse Hotel will honor the couple and in the evening a re ception will be held at the Peterson home. Miss Peterson, a well known model in Salt, Lake City, is a former student of the University of Utah where she was affiliated with Kappa,Kappa Gamma. Mr. Barton will graduate this month from the University of Utah School of medicine. The couple plans to make a home in Los Angeles where the groom-elect groom-elect will intern at Good Samari tan hospital. He is affiliated with Phi Beta Pi. . i -, r . Following the marriage an informal in-formal reception was held in the Alpine ward recreation hall which was decorated with summer sum-mer flowers and palms. Mrs. Mayne and Mrs. Street, mothers of the couple, had matching corsages cor-sages of roses and gardenias. Edward W. Burgess acted ' as master of ceremonies for the program. The couple were married in the IDS temple at Logan, July 14. Following a honeymoon trip to Yellowstone park, they were tendered a wedding reception Thursday night of last week in Charleston, They will make their home in Orem. MOWERS RETURN FROM CONVENTION Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Mower returned this week from Butte, Mont., where Mr., Mower was a delegate to the National Sheep shearers convention, held from July 19 to 24. - The Sheepshearers union is a division of the Amalgamated Meatcutters and Butchers Work men of America. A program is being fostered for better feeling between the shearers and the producers and Patrick Gorman Chicago, secretary of the Meat- cutters, gave a very fine address on fellowship. Another out standing speaker was Sylvan J Pauley, secretary of the National Woolgrowers. Miss Elaine Dean is visiting the week with relatives in Eure ka. Marion. Fourth Ward Officers Entertained Fourth ward bishopric were hosts Tuesday evening at the Mary Pulley Gardens.to the executive ex-ecutive officers of the ward and their partners. Supper was cooked on the garden fireplace and eaten on the lawn. Games and social chat completed the evening. Hosts were Leo T. Hansen,, Han-sen,, Alma Hansen, Leo Bowen, and Elbert Hales. Mr. and Mrs. Elden J. Miller were hosts to the members of the "500" club last Saturday evening. Chicken supper was served in the lovely gardens after which the group went indoors in-doors and played "500". Safety Council Formed For American Fork Organization of a local council to further the prevention of ac cidents in American Fork has been completed. Members of the newly formed committee are Ernest Dean, Howard W. Chris- tensen, Ewing Albertson, with Donald E. Young, chairman.
