Humphries Hum-phries attended a banquet and meeting of the Red Cross officers and county chapter workers held at the Silver Star, Orem, Monday night. Councilman Laursen was recently re-cently named a member of the executive board of the county organization. or-ganization. Easton Brown, secretary American Fork Chamber of Commerce Com-merce met with the managers of other chambers of the county last Thursday evening m Provo. A meeting of the group is to be held every sixty days for the purpose of considering problems or coun ty-wide importance. The July meeting will be held in Orem with Harry Butler, Orem man ager, acting as host. Various problems-affecting the county were discussed Thursday night including the survey un derwav on the Utah Lake pollu tion. the road improvements on the Alpine scenic loop, and the benefits coming to employers under the new Unemployment Compensation act. Fifty Books Received By A. F. Librarian Tuesday the Public Library board and librarian, Mrs. Fern Preston, were pleased to ac knowledge an additional . fifty books for the library shelves do nated by former fellow townsman Dr. P. M. Kelly, now of Provo. These books are of scientific, religious, fictional and literary value. Several are selected from his medical collection. To date he has presented the library with over 100 volumes and assures us others will be forth coming. He still feels an intense inter est in the library for which he persistently worked to make it a reality. Cave Opening Draws Varied Groups Saturday May 8, snow storm failed to dampen the enthusiasm of outdoor lovers as over 100 visited TimDanogos Cave in American Fork Canyon. Thomas A. Walker, national parks custodian cus-todian reported that although Saturday was the official open ing, students of senior classes from Emery and Morgan high schools came Friday and Weber College visited the cave on Mon day. Ucon, Idaho, students and Ogden Seminary classes made the trip Saturday. More schools have called in reservations. Jordan high scheduled 300 students for a cave visit and Lem ana t$. i. high came last Friday. Granite High seminary was to nave come Saturday but postponed the trip because of the weatner. Tourists from coast to coast airpfttiv have signed the register. The CANCER DRIVE SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED brive in American Fork for funds for the American Cancer Society has been completed and netted the amount of $438.64, J. Ralph Seibel, drive chairman re ported Monday. In commenting on the Drive, Mr. Seibel was especially appreciative of the work done by the four service clubs of American Fork and the Parent-Teachers association, also the fine cooperation of the teach ers and principals of the two schools.
