Everton Somebody said "trying to do business without advertising is like trying to kiss a girl in the dark. You know what you are trying to do but no one else does." Genealogical research is usually not called a business but it is so near akin to business that the rules of business apply pretty well to all the activities of research. re-search. In business a man trades cents for spuds or sugar for potatoes and he is able to do trading only as he lets others know what he has to trade. If he tells just a few about the things he has then he trades or sells just a little. If he lets his wants be known to many his trade increases. In genealogy the man who goes along by himself and tries to do it all by himself goes slowly. If he tells the world that he has some Washington genealogy which he will exchange for either Madison, Jetterson or Lincoln genealogy he is apt to find someone some-one who is interested and he gets some Madison genealogy for a copy of his Washington genealogy. genealo-gy. He may also get Jefferson and Lincoln genealogies for oth er copies of his Washington gene alogy. In the end he still has the Washington genealogy and he also has copies of the other three genealogies. Getting the Washington genealogy was perhaps per-haps research, getting the other three was business. If vou make your genealogy a business you will go much faster than if you are content to keep it down where it is a job and nothing more. How do you advertise genealo gy? In business the best way is to place goods where they will be seen, in show windows, on display tables, or wherever people peo-ple will pass by and see them, and, most important of all, tell the world about them in news paper advertisements. In the genealogical business the "goods" consist of pedigree charts and family group sheets. Place these where they will be seen. Put your pedigree chart in the Logan library, in the Utah Genealogical Genealogi-cal library, in the Compendium of American Genealogy in your own printed book which may be placed m libraries everywhere. Let the world know what you have and what you want through the Hartfort Times, the Deseret News, the Herald-Journal, the Choice To Be Given In Adult Classes inrougn the school children, a check list to be used in request ing PTA study groups is being distributed today. Adults desir ing courses may make a first, second or third choice, the classes will be organized according to re quests. Upholstering, Calvin Hathen-brook Hathen-brook or Miss Stevens, county home demonstration agent; Landscaping and Home Beauti-fication, Beauti-fication, Ernest Reimschiissel, BYU; Home Improvement and Decoration, Lucille Walker or Agnes Dauwalder; Flower ar rangements, Making Corsages, George Rohbock; Beginning Sewing, Sew-ing, LaRue Smithi; Advanced Sewing and Tailoring, Marcelle H. Skinner. Arrangements for the class in advanced sewing and tailoring have been made and Mrs. Skinner Skin-ner will begin instruction at high school Friday, Jan 16, at 3:15 p. m. There will also be instruction instruc-tion in good grooming and making mak-ing of dress forms. Out of town teachers will teach only one class, so the town asking ask-ing for the class first will be given first choice. New England Genealogical Magazine, Maga-zine, The Handbook of American Genealogy, The American Magazine Maga-zine of Genealogy, Genealogy and History, and many other source you may find. What about it, are you going into the genealogical "business" or will you just keep it as a part time "job?"
