Show THURSDAY, MAY 29, 1947 THE LEHI SUN, LEHI, UTAH- THURSDAY, MAY 29 Allen Webb Takes Bride In Arizona Lester Russon Home From "Met" Tour Of interest to local residents la the announcement of the marriage of Miss Lois Winn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Winn of Mesa, Arizona, to Allen Webb, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. N. Webb of this city. The young couple were married Wednesday in the Mesa LDS Temple, and a reception followed fol-lowed at the home of the groom's brother, Cecil Webb. The bride graduated from the Mesa High School and since graduation grad-uation ha been employed at the Valley National Bank in that city. The groom is a graduate of the Lehi High School, and spent five years with the U. S. Army, receiving re-ceiving his discharge in the fall of 15)15 with the rank of 1st Sergeant. He left Lehi with the National Guard unit and served in the Pac- puny at me na- attend regularly, wauan Islands and Okinawa. H I . attended Brigham Young University Univers-ity after his return until January when he went to Mesa to become associated with his brother, Cecil in the Jewelry business. The groom's parents and his sister, sis-ter, Mrs. Franklin Adams, and Mrs. Adams of Salt Lake City, were in attendance at the wedding. Visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lott A. For the past seven weeks he has been on tour with the opera, appearing at a number of major cities in the east. While in New York City, he attended at-tended meetings at the Manhattan LDS ward. He described the jewels as possessing a brilliance that was almost blinding. Lights on the "Met" stage, he disclosed, are so brilliant that performers per-formers cannot see their audience except for an occasional' flash of jewels from the "Diamond Horseshoe". Horse-shoe". Mr. Russon plans to visit here for several weeks before returning to his work. and cr'TBOB STEELE - Don Holmstead Arrives Home From Alaska Don C, Holmstead arrived home Friday from Alaska, where he has been serving with the Task Force Frigid of the U. S. Army for the past year. He plans to visit his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Holmstead, until June 21, when he will report to Ft. Eragg for reassignment. Carol Bartlett, 16, daughter of Mr and Mrs. Wicks Bartlett of Provo Canyon wasselected as an attendant. Miss Wicks, a student of Lincoln high school, won first place in the Ladies riding class at the BYU horse show on May 23. The other attendant is Miss Colleen Coll-een Knight of Orem, also astudent at Lincoln high school. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph W. Knight of Orem. All three girls are descentants of Utah Pioneers. Judges at the contest were Verl Baum, of Provo, Mayor Glen Taylor Tay-lor of - American Fork, and Benny Barnes of Provo. A beautifulriding exhibition was given by the Pleasant Grove Rid-infg Rid-infg Club under the direction of Captain Reed Orton. Music for the evening was ' furnished by the Pleasant Grove high school band, under the direction of Irwin Jensen Elwood Allen, chairman of the queen committee was in charge of the contest. The Strawberry Day celebration will get under way Wednesday, June 4, wiith two parades scheduled, sched-uled, one at 10 a.m. and another at 6 p.m. Strawberries will be served ser-ved at noon at the city park on each of the four days, with rodeo performances scheduled each evening even-ing at 8:30. Monte Young's rides and shows will operate all four I days. On the closing day, a West ern Parade will be held at b p.m. The Lehi Riding Club will appear in all three parades, according to Drill Captain Elliot Smiith. The Lehi High School Band is also expected ex-pected to appear in Wednesday's parades. Another feature of Wednesday's Wed-nesday's Pioneer Centennial Parades Par-ades will be the appearance of the Lehi FifthWard Rhythm Band, an organization of thirty little girls ranging from 8 to 12, They' are being directed by Mrs Lucille Ingram, In-gram, under whose leadership the outstanding little marching group Lehi Roundup Tarades forth,,, nave qualified for special prizes in three years.
