Show THURSDAY, MARCH 13, 1947 THE LEHI SUN, LEHI, UTAH THURSDAY, MARru 13. W Xi- X i AT HOME, CHURCH or SCHOOL PARTIES YOU'LL ENJOY DANCING to the music of the best popular bands found at our RECORD BAR Banks Radio & Appliance Thousand Tints With the aid of color consultants, a large paint manufacturer has developed de-veloped a new color system which is stated to offer 1,000 tints, tones and shades covering the color spectrum spec-trum in even steps. The colors are selected from dry paint samples, spectrally arranged formulas. Six colors, gray and white, are used in the system. Selection of the right color to match or blend with a fabric or decorating piece is done by means of nine plastic charts, which are said to offer a choice of 1.000 evenly stepped tints, tones and shades covering the entire color spectrum. Duck Feathers The most irksome chore about duck hunting is cleaning the game after the day's shoot is over. Tops in the book of tedious tasks Is the plucking of the fine downy feathers from a wild duck without breaking the skin. Here's a tried-out wrinkle wrin-kle which will save much effort and which really works. Pluck the duck clean of all the larger feathers, leaving only the small downy ones. Then simply "erase" them with a block of art gum, using the art gum just as you would to erase an error on a piece of drawing paper. Simple, Sim-ple, but it does the trick! SHOES! SHOES! Skilled Doctors Reduce Deaths Frora Var Wounds The mortality rate from woundj among the combatant forces of th United States army in World Wai II was less than 3 per cent, or weD under one-half of that in World War I, variously estimated from 7 to 10 per cent. These remarkable results are usually attributed to recent scientific sci-entific advances such as the antibiotics anti-biotics ("miracle drugs"), blood banks, blood transfusions and blood substitutes plasma or serum albuminand albu-minand the use of new narcotics or anesthetics, says the Journal of the American Medical association. The credit should actually be given giv-en to,factors which made these discoveries dis-coveries and their application possible, pos-sible, namely, the gradual growth of medical knowledge and expert-ness, expert-ness, largely -unnoticed and unheralded, unher-alded, the Journal said. What is little appreciated is that the medical progress accomplished by American medicine In the interim between the two world wars is to a great extent due to standardization standardiza-tion of medical schools by the American Amer-ican Medical association and the standardization of hospitals by the American Medical association and the American College of Surgeons, resulting in the highest type of training train-ing for medical students and internes. in-ternes. The Journal points out that there were relatively few men of pre-eminent ability in surgery and its specialties spe-cialties in the' former war, whereas where-as there were at the beginning of this war literally thousands of well trained, capable surgeons in this country, many of whom were already-members of the reserve corps of the army and navy. LEHI FLORAL PHONE 60 "where the flowers grow" Chinese Coolies Help Gather Prized Camel Cloth Gathering camel's hair for manufacture manu-facture Into cloth is one of the world's curious "by-product" businesses, busi-nesses, points out the National Geographic Geo-graphic society. Central China is the principal source of camel's hair imported by American Industrialists. The largest amount normally is shipped from the port of Tientsin. Caravans plodding plod-ding along at two miles an hour in the region west of Tientsin are followed fol-lowed by coolies who pick up fallen hunks of hair. The yield is particularly particu-larly good in the spring when the camels are 4 molting. A quantity generally is found where the caravan cara-van has spent the night Occasionally a loosening hunk Is pulled off .the camel's hide, but only the finest down is regularly stripped from the animals. Each camel yields from six to seven pounds of hair each year. The hair is adapted to a number of uses, including in-cluding the making of brushes, cordage, cord-age, carpets, shawls, blankets and press-cloth for extracting vegetable oils. But it is for fine garments that it is most prized. "Over 90 cents of every dollar's worth of ore mined in Utah is spent right here. The more we produce, the greater our home market." 4 .
