Her mother was the fifth wife of Bishop David Evans. She was one of her mother s eight children and one of forty-one of Bishop Evans' family. Four of the forty-one now survive. While a young girl, she was obliged to help her mother with the pioneer way of life. They went into the fields in the fall, to help with the harvest, picking up potatoes and gathering ground cherries to make preserves. . She married to Samuel J. Taylor Tay-lor by Bishop Thomas R. Cutler, on July 24, 1885. He died November 5, 1921 and she was sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in April 1922. After being left a widow, her knowledge know-ledge of how to work stood her in good stead. She milked cows and for many years supplied Dr. Worlton's hosDital with her butter. Aunt Sarah never knew defeat. Come what may, she always saw the sunny side of life. Her company was always wished for, in gainer-in gainer-in of anv kind. Many the quilt. ing bee where we used to listen to her' stories, that ever brought laughter to the crowd. She cared for her husband for many years an inmiHH nnrl aftpr he died, her mother came to live with her and again she shared the burden of her sickness and death. After seeing the sufferings they endured, she always said she hoped she could go without being a burden to any one. God granted her this wish. From her own handwriting, we learn of her accomplishments. She worked in the Primary Association for sixteen years. During 'that time she was teacher in the different j classes, was a counselor to Sister Polly Lossee for four years, and was a member of the Stake Primary Board three years. She writes, "I worked on the; Old Folks Committee at one time for ten years, was released, and then went back again for eleven years, making twenty-one years in all, which I enjoyed very much, having hav-ing to quit on account of my-age," and then she writes, "They say one can't work after she is sixty years old." ' She worked in the Red Cross during World War one, knitting sox and sweaters and making surgical sur-gical dressings and bandages to be sent to the boys. Though' few people knew it, she loved to write bits of poetry for all occasions. We found poems to her daughters expressing appreciation to them for what they had done for her bits of verse for her grandchildren grand-children notes to her friends on their birthdays. One of those was so expressive of her sense of humor, hum-or, I will read it to you To Rachel and Will Here's to my dear sister and brother bro-ther who Have done so many things for me. We came in the evening before your birthday. ; We tiptoed on the steps, pulled on our night gowns, Walked in and what a sight, we looked like circus clowns. You weren't feeling well when we arrived, But after we doctored you up, you soon revived. So we spent the evening in a social way, Because the next day was your birthday. We said, "We have come to spend the night" And you said, "That is perfectly all right," So up the stairs to bed we went And a very comfortable nieht we spent. The next morning we got up early, and downstairs we flew To see about breakfast and what we could do. When we got it ready, we all sat down to eat. And were we happy, because we had such a treat. When we got through, we washed the dishes, made the beds And we-all-dit our share Not a word was said. .,. We straightened the house, nut all the things awav. Got ready to go homej and wished you a Happy Birthday. Aunt Sarah loved to go places. She loved the beauties of nature as expressed in another of her poems. fche wrote .
