Show New Utah - Thursday, August 19.2004 - Page 12 AF Symphony begins rehearsals Rehearsals for the 2004- ' 2005 season of the American Ameri-can Fork Symphony will begin on Saturday, Sept. 11 at 8 a.m. in the Ameri- ., can Fork Junior High School, 1120 N. 20 West.' The orchestra will give its first concert Oct. 25 in the American Fork Junior High School auditorium. There are openings for hy will be under the direction direc-tion of co-conductors, Alan Allred and Dr. Terry Hill, and assistant, Burke Sprenson. The October concert will be under the direction of Alan Allred and will feature fea-ture music by Rodgers, Saint Saens, Williams, Bizet and Mussorgsky. This season the sympho- UV Symphony sets auditions for Sept. 7 The Utah Valley Symphony Sym-phony will be holding auditions on Wednesday, Sept. 1. It is open to all orchestral instruments. Audition requirements are: solo of auditioner's choice, two orchestral excerpts that will be provided pro-vided and possible sight reading. The Feb. 28 concert will feature an adult professional profes-sional soloist, and the April 19 concert will again feature youth soloist audi- ftioti, winners. he July concert is part of the annual Steel Days celebration. Other soloists and concert repertoire will be announced later. All concerts are tentatively scheduled to be held in the American Fork Junior High School auditorium. The symphony has expanded its membership to include musicians from Utah County to surrounding surround-ing counties. The members give of their talents for the enjoyment enjoy-ment of making beautiful music. The symphony has reached a high level of performance per-formance and has received much acclaim. The symphony is sponsored spon-sored by the American Fork Arts Council in conjunction con-junction with American Fork City, "the Utah Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts. Call was born and raised in Mesa, Ariz, and has been singing in front of people form the age of three. At 13 she extended that talent to include songwrit-ing. songwrit-ing. Throughout high school she performed some of her works in a community commu-nity . touring group. She moved to Utah to attend Brigham ;Yung Universityin Universi-tyin April 1997 she graduated grad-uated with a B.A. in music. She has recorded four albums, and a four-song Christmas CD. The most recent of the four full length CDs, The Ocean In Me, was released in October Octo-ber with the Shadow Mountain label of Deseret Book. All of the songs on the new CD have religious themes. Call's songs have been included on several other albums, including the God's Army soundtrack, the Brigham City song collection, col-lection, the soundtrack for Jack Weyland's Charly, the 1999, 2001, and 2002 EFY albums, and the 2000 Women of Destiny album. She has toured and performed per-formed in Los Angeles, San Diego, Phoenix, Seattle, Seat-tle, Portland, Dallas, St. Louis, and Nashville (at the famous Bluebird Cafe). She lives in Salt Lake City, where she performs regularly.
