She will compete in the seven-event Heptathlon, which includes hurdles, high jump, shot put, 200 m., long jump, javelin and 800 m. She qualified by placing second at the Olympic Trials Tri-als and exceeding the Olympic standard qualifying qualify-ing score. Walk for Water seeks participants There will be a Walkathon from Alpine to American Fork in support of the women who walk 40 to 50 miles looking for water. They may fill a container with water from a muddy puddle and then bring it back home. Some African women die along the way and never return. A local group is trying to make people aware of the need for these people to have a well so they can have water in their community. A well costs $18,000 to $28,000. Area residents are invited invit-ed to join in the walk this Saturday morning. They will meet at 7 a.m. at Alpine Legacy Park on Main Street. Walkers may go any portion por-tion of the route. Trans portation back to the starting start-ing point, water and refreshments will be furnished.
