Zions Bank earns honor The U. S. Small Business Administration Administra-tion (SBA) has named Zions Bank Regional Region-al Outstanding Lender of the Year. Zions Bank was recognized at a reception during the SBA Expo '04 in Orlando, Fla. SBA administrator Hector V. Barreto presented the award to Scott Anderson, Zions Bank president and chief executive officer. Zions Bank is one of 10 financial institutions insti-tutions recognized as a Regional Outstanding Outstand-ing Lender of the Year. While the criteria for selecting the winners included number and dollar amount of SBA-backed loans made, the SBA primarily wanted to recognize recog-nize lenders large and small, from across the country, that have shown steadfast commitment to helping the SBA advance its mission of being America's Small Business Busi-ness Resource. "Capital is the lifeblood of small businesses," busi-nesses," Barreto said. "Helping America's entrepreneurs get access to the capital they need is one of the most important ways the SBA is helping small businesses grow and create jobs. We have focused on creating a relationship with the lending community that represents the best in publicprivate partnerships. The SBA is proud to recognize our Outstanding Lender Award recipients for their support of entrepreneurship in America. Thanks in no small part to the efforts of Zions Bank, small businesses of this country are growing, grow-ing, expanding and creating jobs for their communities." For the past 10 consecutive years, Zions Bank has ranked as Utah's top provider of SBA loans to small businesses. Zions approved 355 loans, totaling approximately approximate-ly $27.8 million and representing more than 30 percent of the SBA-backed loans approved in Utah during fiscal year 2003. Additionally, Zions Bank leads all other financial institutions in its market area in marketing SBA loans to women- and minority-owned businesses. "We are honored to be named Outstanding Outstand-ing Lender of the Year by the SBA, and we attribute the award to the visionary entrepreneurs entre-preneurs in Utah and Idaho who chose to bank with Zions," said Scott Anderson, Zions Bank president and CEO. "We're proud to play a role in supporting small businesses as they build our economy and create jobs." The U.S. Small Business Administration, Administra-tion, established in 1953, provides financial, finan-cial, technical and management assistance to help Americans start, run, and grow their businesses.
