This preparation should begin long before the day of their first visit Start by allowing your child to watch you take care of your own teeth - examine your own teeth and mouth and brush and floss your own teeth daily. Explain to your child that someday a dentist will need to look into their mouth and see if everything is O.K. Let your child look into your mouth and touch your teeth, then swap and you look into their mouth and count their teeth. While doing this, look for any areas of swelling or redness or bleeding of the gums. Also look for brown or black spots on their teeth. If you see any of these concerns, make sure to get your child a dental appointment as soon as possible. The earlier the dental visit the better, but make sure they are being seen by the age of three. This will help your child get used to going to the dentist and will also help the dentist prevent problems that may occur later on. Even after doing these things, don't be embarrassed if your child does not cooperate! Dentists and their staff are experienced in coping with nervous children. Many times a child does much better if they are not assisted by a parent or guardian into the room. Be positive to your child and let them know that they will have fun and then you will come and see them when it is time for their exam. Always remember to be honest with your child but be sure not to use words that may frighten them. Also, remind older siblings to be encouraging. By following these easy tips, it may end the possible development of a dental fear that could last for years. Main Lehi 768-3431 GU1500XTLQ Proposal to split By Amie Rose Utah Valley staff The original proposal to create a school district for the Lehi-Cedar Valley area, in effect dividing the Alpine School District in two, would split the Suncrest development develop-ment into two as well, if it were approved. More than 1,200 people signed a petition last year to study the feasibility of creating creat-ing the Pioneer School Dis-. Dis-. trict along the lines of the current Lehi High School boundaries. Now the seven-member ad hoc committee appointed by the Utah County Commission Commis-sion to study the issue are confronting the fact that the high school boundary splits Suncrest down the middle. Few homes have been built in the area and no Suncrest students stu-dents currently attend Alpine schools, but with development planned in the future and a new road from Suncrest into Highland, it won't be long before they do. The committee took up the issue Thursday, and will Country Stores eLmdrtWvrantyl 70,000 Mik Premium All-terrain Steel Belted Light Truck Radial LT23575R15C reg $98 56 LT21585R16D..S 97.11 reg-si07.9i LT23585R 1 6E..S1 01 .71 reg-$H3.0l LT25585R16D..S112.19 reg-Si24.9l LT22575R16D..S103.45 reg-$H4 95 LT24575R1 6E..$1 07.71 reg-Sii3.0i LT26575R16C..$104.43 reg-$H6.03 LT28575R16D..S125.15 reg-$i39 06 LT31 585R1 6D..S134.60 reg-5149 56 LT23570R16C..$108.86 reg-$l20.95 LT25570R16C..S112.43 reg-Sl24.9l LT26570R17C..S126.95 reg-Sl4i.06 31x1 0.50R15C..$ 97.12 reg-$i07.9l 32X11.50R15C..S113.18 reg-Sl25.76 LT21585R16E-S102.47 reg-sm.86 h Premium uu -Aw Mr: v' I LT22575R16E..S105.29 reg-SH6 99 j LT21585R16D..S105.29 reg Sn6 99 LT23585R16E..S110.69 reg-Sl22 99 ! Dis-trict. Suncrest will provide maps of the development for the next meeting. Rob Smith, business administrator for the Alpine School District and a committee commit-tee member, said the development develop-ment should be in the Alpine School District. The main road in Utah County to the development empties into Highway 92, in Highland. He said it's important to keep communities together in schools. David Cox, a member of the committee, said he doesn't does-n't know of any other areas where the boundary for the proposed district should be adjusted. Cox, who is a fifth-grade fifth-grade teacher and legislator, sponsored a bill last year that made splitting school districts dis-tricts possible. It must have its study submitted sub-mitted to the County Commission Com-mission by July 1, including possible impacts to people in the district and how property will be divided. The committee told a group of BYU students contracted con-tracted to study impacts of the split Thursday to assume that all assets will be divided based on the assessed valuation valua-tion of property in the new district versus the district as a whole. That means if the new district dis-trict accounts for 30 percent of the assessed valuation of the total district, it would take 30 percent of the assets, including debts. Committee member Denton Den-ton Alexander said the Alpine School District's balance bal-ance sheet, as of June 30 last year, shows a value of $117 million. Smith said the district also has $62 million in unissued unis-sued bonds, already approved by voters, that should be divided the same way.
