The Vikings capped their afternoon of scoring in the sixth inning as a triple by Sanders drove in Gray and a subsequent Robby Weber single scored Sanders. The victory was a nice way for Pleasant Grove to jump-start jump-start their season. The game with the Pirates began as a pitcher's duel, with neither team managing a run until the fourth inning. Pleasant Grove struck first thanks to a Sanders double that drove in Mitton. Later, Weber singled in Sanders for the 2-0 lead. In the fifth inning, Cyprus took advantage of a stolen scoring position, followed by a double that drove in their first run of the game. After giving up one more run in the fifth, Sanders battled bat-tled his way out of the inning, recovering on the mound and stranding two Cyprus baserunners. In the sixth, Cyprus broke the 2-2 tie thanks to two runs that came from a double and two singles. Pleasant Grove couldn't answer in the top of the seventh and the Vikings dropped to 1-1 on the season. After falling behind 4-1 Friday, Pleasant Grove rallied ral-lied in the bottom half of the seventh inning for one of the all-time great comebacks come-backs in Viking history. Olympus jumped ahead in the first inning, scoring three runs. Starting pitcher Mehlhoff shook those off and didn't allow another run through four innings of time on the mound. In the bottom half of the first, Pleasant Grove managed man-aged to get on the board thanks to a hard-hit ball to second base by Mehlhoff that scored Travis Lowder, but that would be the only run that Pleasant Grove could manage through the next five innings. Olympus increased their lead to 4-1 in the fifth. The Vikings looked dead in the water heading into the final inning of play. However, Davis got the ball rolling in the seventh with a double and Weber reached base thanks to an error. Alex Davis then came up with the two-run double that swung the momentum toward the Viking dugout. Alex Davis then scored on a fielder's choice from a Lowder hit to the shortstop to tie the game. Another fielder's choice on a Kyle Beecher hit scored Jason Gray for the winning run. Tuesday the Vikings again traveled to Salt Lake, this time to play Bingham.
