Softball All three Orem teams made the state tournament field. Each had good pitching pitch-ing mingled with clutch hitting. hit-ting. All three teams were young and return a lot of talent. Baseball Timpanogos was a noti-cable noti-cable abscence from the tourney field. The T-Wolves fell on rough times this season but should be better. Mountain View was the surprise. The region champs came out of no where. The Bruins had two great pitchers pitch-ers and rode them to a fifth place finish in the state. The Tigers beat people with their bats. The sluggers slug-gers went all the way to a third place finish at state. Track and Field The Bruins cleaned up at the state meet. The Orem and Timpanogos girls teams both finished in the top eight. Boys Soccer The Bruins needed one more goal to take state. They finish as runner's up. The best finish ever by the team. Hopefully, you'll enjoy the top 10 lists. Top 10 Spring athletes 10-Mtn. View track teams. These athletes completed a sweep of the boys and girls titles at the state meet. 9-Hayli Duke (THS, soft-ball). soft-ball). Great potential here. Best sophomore softball player I saw this year and by making this list, she is one of the best I saw overall. 8-Devin Wilkins (OHS, baseball). base-ball). A slugger with wheels. The Tigers leadoff hitter would be in the clean up spot in most lineups around the state. 7-JaNae Wright (MV, soft-ball). soft-ball). A top notch catcher behind the plate. She has great ability to put the bat on the ball and make things happen. 6-Devrie Downey (OHS, softball). She was named the top prep softball pitcher in Orem by the Times and deservedly so. 5-Mallary Gillespie (MV, softball). She is stellar at shortstop short-stop and she has a lot of power with the bat. 4-Joey Bye (MV, baseball). One of many good pitchers in Orem this past season. He put up some incredible numbers on the mound and at the plate. 3-Marsha Heimuli (OHS, softball). Her arm is cannon and her bat is a rocket launcher. launch-er. 2-Andy Wilding (OHS, baseball). base-ball). The Tigers top pitcher. He won two of the three playoff games won by Orem High. The team will have a hard time replacing him. 1-Kaycie Zimmerman (MV, softball). The Times softball MVP. Glove, bat and leadership. leader-ship. The Bruins sweep the competition competi-tion taking home both the girls and boys titles. 9-Boys Soccer. The Bruins beat Provo in the semifinals on a shootout. Unfortunately, the next day they become a victim of a shootout. 8-Baseball. Orem's Mike Morgan hits grand slam against Timpanogos that wins the game. 7-Softball. Mountain View's Chelsey Mikalauski, recovering from shoulder surgury, throws a no-hitter against Timpanogos. 6-Softball. A pitching dual between Timpanogos' Lyndsi Hill and Springville's Lacey Long. Hill threw a no-hitter threw eight innings as the game had to go to extra frames before the Wolves could pull out a 1-0 win. Hill struck out 12 Red Devils. Long deserved better. She allowed only three hits and the Wolves won due to the international tie-breaker rule. 5-Baseball. Willie Newton has a no-hitter threw six and two-thirds against Pleasant Grove despite the pouring rain.
