Mountain View's Joey Bye out-dueled Orem's Mike Morgan Friday afternoon after-noon to give the Bruins a 4-1 4-1 win. The Tigers stranded nine base runners including leaving the bases loaded twice. They also had three players picked off attempting attempt-ing to steal and hit into a double play to end the sixth inning. "We did a lot of little things to get it done today," Mountain View coach Chris Cooper said. "Those three pick off plays were huge. Mtn. An Orem error started the inning that did not end before Bye, Jacob Nelson and Isa Takahashi each tallied tal-lied an RBI. The three runs to open the game was the biggest first inning for the Bruins this season. Cooper said, "We need to score early. It gives our pitcher confidence. The Tigers got their leadoff batter bat-ter on base in four of the first five innings but Bye picked three of them off trying try-ing to steal. "Joey (Bye) gave us a great chance to win. He threw well and about mid-game mid-game he got his curve ball going," Cooper said. Orem scored its lone run in the third when Matt McCoy led off the inning with a double and scored on Trent Barney's sacrifice fly. The Tigers left the bases loaded in the inning. Chris Benson scored the last Mountain View run after connecting for his second sec-ond double of the game. He came home on an RBI-single by Bryan Dickinson. Willie Newton finished off the Tigers coming into the game with two on and one out in the seventh. He struck out the first batter he faced, then walked Brooks Christiansen bringing bring-ing Morgan to the plate with the bases loaded and two outs. Morgan's grand slam was the game winner earlier in the week against Timpanogos. However, this time the two-two pitch got by Morgan ending the game. 4 1 0 0 1 4 2 1 Fx ! i. V xkfV-JrPPl U ..
