The game opened with a close first quarter as the teams traded baskets and turnovers. American Fork built a five-point lead, only to see Jordan come back to tie the game at 21 at the beginning of the second quarter. In that quarter the Cavemen managed to build an eight-point lead at 36-28 on Marc Wilson's free throw, but the Beetdiggers stormed back, frustrating American Fork with their full-court press. The Cavemen's lead was down to three at the half. But in the third quarter Shoff took control, leading American Fork on a 27-6 run to open the quarter. He scored on a three-point play, a reverse lay-up, put-backs, jumpers, and free throws to collect 13 of his game-high 27 points. Tyler Parrish was the top placer for American Fork, finishing second in the 130 lb. division. David Young, third in the 189 lb. division, also placed for the Cavemen. Tomorrow the wrestlers host Orem in a 7 p.m. meet, and offensive rebounds and going on a 12-4 run. But the Vikings would not go away, and they scored the next six points to pull to within nine. American Fork got the lead back to 13 at 40-27 after three quarters. But then the Cavewomen's shots stopped falling. They went over three minutes without scoring and Pleasant Grove cut the lead to seven. But then James stepped in, collecting eight points in the quarter to hold off the Vikings. Terry led the team in scoring with 14, James added 12, and Bennion and Jolene Farmer each had eight points. Last night they traveled to Brighton, and tomorrow the team travels to Orem for a 6:30 contest.
