Te Whltentng with State Continued from Page 9 that was a very good race between two very good schools," Bruins coach Mike Hunter said. Hunter was impressed with the depth of his team, and looks forward to it being be-ing even better next year. Only one of the six Top 25 finishers for the Bruins was a senior and two were freshmen. fresh-men. Orem's Kendy Christensen provided a stellar performance, perfor-mance, finishing third overall over-all to lead all Utah Valley schools. "It's not first but I went as hard as I could," Christensen said. The Tigers finished third overall with Timpview placing plac-ing fifth and Springviile finishing fin-ishing sixth. I MV, Orem boys go 2-3 in 4A race, Timpanogos seventh in 5A: The experience of Timpview senior Jonathan Nelson on different years might've been as different as it gets for a returning state cross country champion. One year ago at the state meet at Sugarhouse Park in Salt Lake City, Nelson was one of the biggest surprises of the day as a junior when he came out of nowhere to finish first in the 4A boys race. This fall, the pressure was on to do it again. "It was very different this year," he explained on Oct. 22 after coming through to win the individual title in dominating dominat-ing fashion. "It was more of a relief. I don't know how to describe what it was like last year." The Thunderbirds senior smashed the competition by 18 seconds, finishing in 15:17.8. That time was more than 30 seconds better than his winning time of 15:49.5 in 2007. The superlative performance perfor-mance of Nelson was just the start for a T'Bird squad seeking seek-ing its third 4A title in a row. Timpview did win the team Forward Continued from Page 9 Volleyball I Thurs. Oct. 30, 6:30 p.m. Lehi at Timpanogos: The T'Wolves will have one last chance for a region victory tonight to-night as they host the Pioneers (24, 7-12) I Thurs. Oct. 30, 6:30 p.m., Mountain View at Springviile: Springviile needs a victory against the Bruins to keep their Wilcox - title, with Mountain View second. Region 7 displayed it's dominance as Orem took third place on the strength of a tiebreaker (the sixth Tiger finished before the sixth Pine View runner) and Provo and Springviile rounded things out by coming in sixth and seventh. Nelson had company in the individual category as Orem's Benjamin Johnson finished second and Provo's Chase Nelson was third. Although the 5A boys couldn't quite match the success suc-cess of their 4A counterparts, they also did very well in their race. American Fork didn't have enough to overcome Alta's blistering 38-point performance perfor-mance but the Cavemen were better than all of the other 5A squads, coming in second with 75 points. Timpanogos and Pleasant Grove came in seventh and eighth respectively in the team competition, separated by just two points (240-242). B0VS 4A team scores: 1 . Timpview 58, 2. Mountain View 1 23, 3.
