The grand opening for the Orem location, at 1375 S. State Street adjacent to University Mall, is on Sept. 10. Sunflower market debuts next week in Orem Rette Speight fJOPTH CCIUTY 5TA:: In a world gone green, it seems that the choice isn't necessarily organic or not. but what the price is. Keeping up with super-consumer super-consumer supermarket stores is the biggest reason why the new Sunflower Farmers Market Mar-ket grocery store opening in Orem will be a hit, said founder Mike Gilliland. Sunflowers f armers Market is a "natural and organic grocer gro-cer to offer serious food at silly prices." which includes beating any other grocer in town, big or small, said Gilliland. The company will celebrate the grand opening of its new Orem location at 1.575 S. State Street on Sept. 10, and will include everything from food and fun to giveaways. The first 200 customers to purchase groceries at the opening will receive a free reusable shopping shop-ping bag filled with groceries valued at $50. Currently only one other Sunflower Farmers Market exists ex-ists in Utah, in Murray. However. How-ever. Gilliland said that it was one of the strongest openings in the history of the store. "The Salt Lake area is very-strong, very-strong, and hopefully our new store will be just as successful or more," Gilliland said. "Opening "Open-ing in Orem will provide a store to more price coascious consumers as college towns seem to be more in tune with natural foods, and not just the high end market anymore." The Sunflower store is able to compete with such large chains because they produce most of their own foods. Just because they might offer only-two only-two types of olive oil doesn't mean their quality is less aid Gilliland. "We have our own private Sunflower label on 400 or 500 different brand products." Gilliland Gil-liland said. "We put our emphasis empha-sis on unusual products and on produce." Sunflower Markets was founded in 2002 and now hosts stores in Colorado. Arizona. New Mexico. Nevada, and now. two stores in Utah. In the next couple of years, Gilliland Gil-liland said he hopes to have six or more stores serving the state. The store will be starting its opening celebration at about 6:30 a.m. and will kick off the day's events with a "sunflower garland" cutting ceremony with Orem Mayor Jerry Washburn. There will be local musicians, on-site barbecue barbe-cue and chair massages from 1 1 a.m. until 3 p.m. The store is located at 1375 S.
