"LiVe This is Your Life" is a humorous show that helps adolescents take charge of their lives to grow up healthy and fit. The high-energy show ad-, dresses adolescent obesity, eating eat-ing disorders, body image, and unhealthy media messages. The shows, which kicked off on Tuesday, Feb. 5, and run throughout the spring, will reach at least 1300 Utah County students this week, including students at Sun crest and Scera Park Elementary Friday a 9:30 and 11:15 a.m. respectively. Earlier this week the play was presented to students at Oak Canyon Junior High in Lindon, Orem Junior High, Dixon Middle School in Prove "We are concerned about the future health of adolescents who struggle with weight issues," is-sues," says Tamara Lewis, MD, Intermountain Healthcare's medical director for Community Commu-nity Health and Prevention. "These assemblies will reach more than 30,000 Utah students, stu-dents, helping young people make healthy choices and build good habits for the rest of their lives." The public service campaign is psonsored by Intermountain Healthcare and SelectHeahh, and was developed by tyhe Boston-based. Emmy Award winning production company, Foodplay Productions. The cost of the play is being underwritten by SelectHeahh and is free to Utah schools. The play will visit 75 of Utah's junior high and middle schools this spring, 75 in 2009, and 75 in 2010. Each school will receive re-ceive a LiVe Teacher Activity Guidebook with lesson plans and activity sheets. More Central Utah listings than anybody. Period. Orem Jr. High Student-led conferences Student-led conferences with parents and teachers are today from 4 to 8 p.m. Grand Concert The second annual Grand Concert will be Friday, Feb. 29, at 7:30 p.m. The school's elite music ensembles ensem-bles Bella Voce, A Capella, Symphony Orchestra, Concert Band. Jazz L and the Fiddling Group will each be performing perform-ing alone and together. For the finale, the band, choir, and orchestra will combine to present pres-ent such audience favorites as "Amazing Grace,'" "The Battle Hymn of the Republic," and "Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing". Tickets are now on sale in the school's financial office. Cost is $8 for preferred seating and $6 general admission. All proceeds from the Grand Concert Con-cert go directly to the band, choir, and orchestra programs atOJH. Aspen Elementary Kindergarten registration Kindergarten registration for the 2008-A9 school year will be Monday at 9:30 am or 1 p.m. Please call the office to get names on the list. Bonneville Elementary Kindergarten registration Kindergarten registration for 2008-09 will be Monday at 3 p.m in the school cafeteria. Bring the child's birth certificate, certifi-cate, immunization records, and proof of address. A child must be five years old on or before Sept. 1, 2008, in order to attend kindergarten. Parent-teacher conferences Parent-teacher conferences are scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday. Both days will be early -out days with 1:15 and 2:30dismissal times, and the conferences will be from 2:45 to 730 p.m. Geneva Elementary President's Day program The first-grade classes will be perforrning a Presidents Day program today. This patriotic patri-otic presentation is an annual event. An assembly will be held at the school at 1 p.m., and there will be a 7 p.m evening performance for parents. The program will include music, spoken parts, and poetry. Northridge Elementary Jazz reading contest The school-wide Jazz reading contest con-test continues to Monday. Students Stu-dents hope to win a visit from a Utah Jazz team member. Orchard Elementary Junior Engineering Day The Junior Engineering Day, an event featuring a science sci-ence program from Utah State University, will be Friday. Students Stu-dents will participate during the day, and there will be an evening session for families. Windsor Elementary White Ribbon Week White Ribbon Week, with PTA -sponsored activities to promote respect, concludes Friday. "Leap Tear" reading program pro-gram Classes are competing for the most minutes read in the PTA -sponsored "Leap Into Reading" program. Progress has been tracked by frogs posted in the hallways. The frogs' tongues have grown longer as more minutes have been read. The competition will end on Feb. 29. Kindergarten registration Kindergarten registration for 200809 is Monday and Tuesday.
