Show Thursday, April 5, 2007 OREM TIMES Page 13 nit bi UDiiuares Willard James Holman Stanford Joseph Shelley Lee Ward Carlson rV 1 I ur l Lee Ward Carlson, 68, of Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove, beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away April 1, 2007 after a long and courageous coura-geous battle with Parkinson's Parkin-son's and i Alzheimer's. 5 He was born March 1 26, 1939 in J American Fork to Ward Dean and Virginia Maynard Carlson. He . was a fifth generation Pleasant ,, Grove native and was proud of his pioneer ancestry. He was raised at the foot of his beloved Mt. Timpanogos and the "G" Mountains, Moun-tains, which he loved so dearly. , This brought him many hours of fond memories hunting and play-Ting play-Ting in the foothills with his brother and friends. He attended schools in Pleasant Grove and graduated gradu-ated from Pleasant Grove High School in 1957. After graduation, he joined the Army and served three years for his beloved country. coun-try. While serving in France he was a member of the U. S. Rifle Team and toured Europe, winning win-ning first place in rifle shooting. After returning from the Army, he married his sweetheart, Kaye . Nielsen on September 21, 1962 in Pleasant Grove. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Provo LDS Temple. He worked as a parts clerk ; and manager for Abbott & Glass Diesel in Salt Lake and Boise and later for Ryder Truck Rental and Intermountain Peterbilt where he retired after 30 years. Lee was an active member of the LDS Church. His final and most loved calling was as counselor coun-selor in the Alpine Valley Branch Presidency. He loved those he served so much and they loved him. He loved hunting, fishing, and camping with his family and friends. No family has ever been more loved. He Is survived by his wife Kaye of Pleasant Grove; four children: Susan (Kevin) Nielsen, Lehi; Karyn (Allen) Oscarson, Monroe, UT; Mark (Holly) Carlson, West Bountiful; Kristina (Stephen) Benson, Ben-son, Spanish Fork; eight grandchildren: grand-children: Sherrie (BJ) Benson, Raquel Nielsen; Jacob, Carly, Luke Oscarson; Corbin, Colton, Connor Carlson; brother, Kent (Jewell) Carlson, Pleasant Grove; sister, Sharron (George) Fridell, Leeds, UT; long-time friends: Stewart & Gaylyn Beveridge and Larry & Janet Harris. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 5, 2007 at 11.00 a.m. in the Pleasant Grove Second Ward Chapel, 455 East 200 South, Pleasant Grove. Friends may call Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove and at the church on Thursday one hour prior to services. Venola Hansen Bone Venola Hansen Bone, age 97 died Monday, April 2. 2007. She iwas born July 29, 1909 in Lehi, JUtah, daugh ter of Chris-Jtian Chris-Jtian M. and Lizzie Evline Hansen. Married Mar-ried Parley D. Jones Oct. 8, 1943, later divorced. di-vorced. Married Mar-ried Luther D. Childs who preceded her ' in death. She married Horace Hor-ace Darrow Bone, Oct. 14, 1943, ; later solemnized in the Provo LDS - Temple, also deceased. Venola worked as a clerk at JC Penny's store in American Fork for many years and also worked I in the State Training School and was a temple worker in the Provo " Temple. She was a very social person, enjoyed meeting with friends and traveling with her I husband Horace because of his work. She loved taking care of her family. Survived by daughters and sons, Glenna (Douglas A.) Hooley, Pleasant Grove; Marie (Mack) Wagstaff, Lehi; Duane (Erma) Jones, Elmo, UT; Norman R. (Gaylyn) Childs, Junction City, KS; Merlin H. (Vicki) Bone, American Fork; 14 grandchildren, 54 greatgrandchildren; great-grandchildren; 14 great-greatgrandchildren; sister, Bernice Hansen, Quick, Washington. She was preceded in death by her husbands, a daughter Verona June Jones, 2 grandsons, Keith Hooley and Bart Wade Jones, and 6 siblings. He was born to Willard Wil-lard and Gladys Rigby Holman on April 24, 1929 in Salt Lake City Utah. On October 21, 1948 he married his sweetheart Melba Workman Work-man in the Salt Lake Temple. Shortly after their marriage, Bill and Melba made their home in Pleasant Grove, Utah where they lived the majority of their lives together. As a faithful employee, Bill worked at Geneva Steel for over 30 years. He was a gentle and humble man, known for his compassionate service toward others. His love for the simple things in life was apparent as he worked the ground and taught his family lessons on the small family farm he established. He thrived as an active member of the LDS church, serving in bishoprics and stake presidencies, and as an ordinance or-dinance worker in the Provo and Timpanogos Temples. In 1994, Bill and Melba thoroughly enjoyed serving an LDS mission in Bill ings Montana. This was one of the most cherished times of their lives. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Melba, and survived by his seven children, Ron (Sandy) (San-dy) Holman, Kamas, UT, Gaye (George) ShoelL Pleasant Grove, UT, Mike (Gay) Holman, Pleasant Grove, UT, Marianne (Patrick) Croghan, Springville.UT, Curt (Sharon) Holman, Provo, UT, Cflade(Lucie) Holman, New York, NY, Bill (Susan) Holman, Spring-ville, Spring-ville, UT. He is also survived by two sisters Ruth Rhead and Betty Pearson, 33 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. As father and grandfather his gentle presence pres-ence will be greatly missed, but his influence and example will live on. Keith Junior Richan Keith was born in American Fork, Utah on March 22, 1922 to William Bain and Matilda Johnson John-son Richan. He graduated gradu-ated from AF High setting state records in track & field. He married mar-ried Barbara Sager in the SLC Temple after" serving in the Northern North-ern California Mission. Keith served in the Merchant Marines during WWII. They started Richan's Office Supply and other businesses. Keith was active in the LDS Church. He was a Utah County Commissioner, 1981-1985 and served in many national, state, county and city organizations. organiza-tions. Keith was a man of impeccable impec-cable integrity and won friends everywhere. After Barbara died JAy inl991, he married Rosette Kra-henbuhl Kra-henbuhl Jan. 8, 1993. Stanford Joseph Shelley, a loving lov-ing father, grandfather and greatgrandfather, great-grandfather, passed away March 31, 2007 at the home of his daughter in Sandy, Utah, from Causes incident to age. Stan was born in Salt Lake City on Febijtery 1, 1912 to Ernest William and Mary Eliza beth Andrea-son Andrea-son Shelley. He was the second child in a family of six children. Stan's family moved ' frequently throughout northern and central Utah while he was growing up. When he was 15 years old, his family moved to Lehi to help his Grandfather Andreason take care of the family fam-ily farm. Stan graduated from Lehi High School in 1930 with the graduation exercises being held in the Lehi Tabernacle Building. He had a great love for learning and would read the encyclopedia in the evening after work. After graduation, he moved to California to work in the Plywood Factory in Westwood. When the factory closed down, he went to Little America, Wyoming to work in the Service Station. When World War II started in 1941, he was working for the Railroad in Salt Lake City. He joined the Lehi National Guard on November 11, 1940 for a year of service. In February 1942, he was called back into service and during Work War II he was stationed in California, Califor-nia, Hawaii, and other locations in the Pacific Ocean. After the war, he returned to Utah and married Elizabeth Marie Saunders in the Salt Lake Temple on June 26, 1946 for Time and Eternity. To this union, three children were born. They opened their home to over 50 foster children chil-dren and extended family members. mem-bers. When Beth passed away on May 27, 1994, they had been married for almost 48 years. He married Joan Lew man the following follow-ing year in 1995. Stan and Beth purchased pur-chased a farm west of Lehi in 1950. Stan operated the family farm for over 25 years, raising dairy cattle and alfalfa hay. He later had other ' employment with a retirement from the Tooele Army Depot in 1982, with over 20 """"""""" years of service as a security guard. He was active in the LDS Church where he held the office of High Priest. He served over 15 years in the Spanish Extraction Program in the Lehi Stake and had a great love for his ancestors and family history. He will be remembered for his dedication and love for his family, fam-ily, his compassion, warm heart and generosity for his friends and associates. He was a great example ex-ample to all and he will be greatly missed. Stan is survived by his three children, Donald E. (Pat), Clara (George) McNeill, both of Sandy, Utah; Anita (Don) Miller of Mona, Utah; nine grandchildren, Travis Miller, LeChelle Abernethy, Joshua Josh-ua Shelley, Jacob Shelley, Ten-eye Zaleski, Genny Houston, Thomas McNeill, Jaime Gubler and Janessa McNeill; nine great-grandchildren; wife, Joan of Grants Pass, Oregon. Preceded in death by his wife, Beth, his parents, three brothers, broth-ers, two sisters and a grandson, Thomas. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 6, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. in the Wing Mortuary, 118 E. Main, Lehi, where friends and family may call on Thursday evening eve-ning from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Friday. Fri-day.
