Legislcivive Action Committee Pursued I ree Projects In 1976, the Legislative Action Committee members were Ron Hawkins, C. Douglas Beardall, Wes Horlacher and John Mulliner. John Mulliner commenced the year as chairman but resigned to pursue political office. Ron Hawkins, of Hawkins & Borup, completed the year as chairman. During the year, the committee undertook three projects. Dave Stone suggested that the committee commit-tee provide a monthly report in the Chamber newsletter. Monthly reports covered such things as the votes of our congressional representatives, as analysis of new laws, and pertinent comments form influential people relating to the legislative process. The second project was a letter writing compaign. A list was compiled of people who expressed an interest in-terest in communicating with our congressional representatives. The third project was to encourage people to participate par-ticipate in the electoral process. An effort was made to advise every member mem-ber of the Chamber of the location of the mass meetings meet-ings for their district. Members were encouraged to attend mass meetings, to become delegates to county and state conventions, and participate actively in political campaigns.
