',1 stmas In Utah County 1949 As the last Christmas of, this, half-century draws near, the people of Utah County pause for a moment to reflect on the past and contemplate the fut ure. Hard work and progress have characterized the spirit of Utah County in the past, and these same qualities will bring more abundant living, to its people in the future. The program included a skit by Rita Jolley, Emma Gordon, Bernice Kirkwood and Rita Car ter; a dance by Annette Johnson and Joan Williams; a Christmas story by Mrs. Dixon; a pantomime panto-mime by Esther Asay; and a violin solo by Donna Wilde. P-nta Claus appeared and gave eacn cnua a stocKing IUU o candy and nuts. A special Christmas party took the place of regular MIA work this week. The first part of the evening was devoted to a program pro-gram with special emphasis being be-ing given to the scriptural reading read-ing by Ms. Elsie Taylor and the theme by Mrs- Jennie Swapp. The Beehive girls sang and two Christmas stories were given by Mrs. Sheryl Cordner and Mrs. , Lois Shields. The congregational 'singing was led by Mrs. Esther Asay, after which everyone en-I en-I joyed dancing and a surprise visit from Santa Claus. Of interest during the holiday season is the holiday trip to West I Chicago of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Wilcox. The couple plan to spend ;two weeks with the parents of Mrs. Wilcox after which they will return to Grand View and Mr. Wilcox will resume his studies at BYU. The lesson at Relief Society meeting was given by Mrs- Eunice Eun-ice Young. A Christmas pro gram was presented .following the lesson. Two duets were sung by Mrs. Theo Harward and Mrs. Mae Davis and a piano solo was played by Dean Buckner. Jun-ane Jun-ane Young told a Christmas story and a special toast was given by Mrs. Elsie Taylor. Refreshments Re-freshments were served and gifts exchanged. Workman Burningham's Mrs- Leora Ashton and children, Darrell, Karyl Lee, Marie and Linda, spent the weekend in Paragonah, Utah visiting vis-iting with relatives. Bryce McEwan, son of Mrs. Grace McEwan, has received receiv-ed his discharge from the US. Army and returned home from Japan last week. He has been in Japan for the past two years.
