Watkins, Graduated second in her class at graduation exercises of the Uashington-Lee high school in Arlington, Va She was second to another Utahn, Evan Ivie of American Fork. Miss Watkins has attended Washington-Lee high school for the past two years. She was chosen chos-en most intellectual girl in the class and placed second in her class of 450 students. Washington-Lee is the only white high school in Arlington County and has an enrollment of 2207 students. It offers a wide variety of activities and during the past year both Mr. Ivie and jlis Watkins have participated actively in the school activities. Mr. Ivie was manager oi tne year book, a member of the national nat-ional Honor Society "Quill and Scroll," a member of the debate dub, the French club, and played play-ed a part in the school play, and was valadictorian for the class. Miss Watkins was circulation manager of the year book, a member of the National Honor Society, "Quill and Scroll", a member of ELOS, the school Literary Society, member of the Glee club, member of Tri-Hi-Y, a Christian organization, and Salutorian for her class- Mrs. George Bills and son, Carroll and daughter, Connie, are spending the summer in Texas, Tex-as, here Mr. Bills is working. Mr- and Mrs. Raymond Partridge have as their guests this week their daughter, Carma Swindle and her daughter Barbara Bar-bara from Cedar City. Orem Legion Auxiliary Installs New Officers New officers of the Orem American Legion Auxiliary were elected and installed on Wednesday evening. Arvilla Harvey, district president, acted as installing officer. Special guests at the meeting were Mrs Harvey and Mrs. Lela Banks, department presid ent, both of Pleasant Grove; and Mrs- E. H. Johnson and her daughter, Marilyn. Miss Johnson will represent Orem at Girls' Mate and was sponsored by the Legion Auxiliary. Surprise Party Honors Missionary Ruth Moss entertained on Friday evening at a surprise party and handkerchief shower honoring Reese Merrill of Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove. Mr. Merrill entered the LDS mission home on Monday Mon-day and will labor in the North Central States mission. A pleasant evening was enjoyed enjoy-ed by a group of friends. Phone 303 PACIFIC COAST TRIO JOIIIS CAST OF U OF U SUZER FESTIVAL Three ballet stars including Joan Vickers arrived in Salt Lake City this week to begin rehearsals for the University of Utah Summer Festival. The thlra annual outdoor show in the Stadium Bowl under the stars will feature "The Great Waltz" on July 4 to 11 and an English version of "carmen" on July 15, 16, 18 and 19. Joining Miss Vickers, a leading lead-ing ballerina of the San Francisco Francis-co Apera Company, are Roland Vasquez and Richard Burgess, male stars of the same organiz ation. They will be directed in their work by William F. (Bill) Christensen, Utah-born cnoreo-grapher, cnoreo-grapher, who has worked the trio to national stardom from his position as director of the San Francisco Ballet. Mr. Christensen has organized organiz-ed a ballet corps of local dancers and has been working under a heavy rehearsal schedule for more than a week. Dancers came from as far as Idaho Falls to train under the noted choreographer. choreo-grapher. Eugene Buckner Honored at Farewell Party A farewell party honoring Eugene Buckner was held in the Grand View ward hall. Elder Buckner entered the mission home on Monday and will leave next week for the Northern California Cal-ifornia mission. The program conisted of sev eral numbers by a quartette comprising Jeanine and Jackie Dean, Mignon Sheerif and Fay Griffths, accompanied by Mrs. Martha Kelsey; two readings by Mrs. Myrl Day; talks by Rex Griffith, Eugene Buckner.
